Interesting article re. Hearn, Sky and PPV
I've not only see Hearn getting a lot of stick on here for the increasing number of PPVs, I've been one of those criticizing him for it. But in the interests of balance, I think it's worth sharing this article as he provides some interesting insights into the PPV situation and appears to lay the blame firmly at Sky's door in terms of them not allowing promoters like him the ability to do much more than break-even on non-PPV shows:

Is it just me or does every promoter have a built in excuse as to why crap fights are ppv's???Deserter wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 14:22 I've not only see Hearn getting a lot of stick on here for the increasing number of PPVs, I've been one of those criticizing him for it. Hearn is blaming Sky..
Re: Interesting article re. Hearn, Sky and PPV
He is, which I found interesting in itself, as it's the first time I've seen him be critical of the relationship. With those insights into the dynamics it's the most credible 'excuse' I've heard from any promoter to date...tiny_acres wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 15:09Is it just me or does every promoter have a built in excuse as to why crap fights are ppv's???Deserter wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 14:22 I've not only see Hearn getting a lot of stick on here for the increasing number of PPVs, I've been one of those criticizing him for it. Read this earlier. It’s weird. I agree with what he’s sayin. But then he and other promoters are doing it themselves.

They should have held it at the Millennium again, the Welsh don’t get many big events so they go nuts on tickets.
Re: Interesting article re. Hearn, Sky and PPV
The undercard isn't good enough for this fight.

How many ticket's you reckon Price will shift now that he's added?
5,000?
5,000?
Re: Interesting article re. Hearn, Sky and PPV
The fact that 80000 can even be considered a poor turn out by some speaks volumes for Joshua's popularity.
If he fights Wilder in April, I imagine the extended Wembley will sell out in no time.
He is right about PPV saturation, I have had to skip a few already this year and will likely miss a couple morw before the year is out.

How many genuine ppv fights has there been this year?
I’ve probably forgotten some but I can only think of Joshua v Parker and Canelo v GGG

Re: Interesting article re. Hearn, Sky and PPV
Lol, all I read was Hearn admitting he's a shit promoter when he has to actually do any work to generate interest in a fight unless there's some manufactured wwe grudge to con the public.
And for him to complain about the increase in ppvs which has happened under his watch is insane.
