Kal Yafai Vs Norberto Jimenez

Post by Boxing Prospect »

Sounds like Jimenez's team are expecting Yafai to be making a mandatory against their man next time out:

A bit of a meh fight, Yafai's reign has been almost as frustrating as that of Anacajas . I understand it being a mandatory but still meh. Since winning the belt in December 2016 he's defended against a Japanese Flyweight, a mandatory, an out of form Carmona (who has lost 3 of his previous 4). Jimenez hasn't faced a notable foe in almost 4 years, since fighting to a draw with Kono

So fighting on the same card as Ancajas was pointless.

Ever since turning down Inoue he has been on the path to irrelevancy.

It's a mandatory, I accept that once in a while you have to do it no matter who they put in front of you.
But like previous posters have said, 2016 to now is a rubbish reign.
I rate Kal as not only a well skilled boxer, but entertaining to watch- except when he faces one knock over opponet after another.
I anticipate his fights less and less.
No talk of unification, or any big match ups. And yet he has the might of a big player promoter.
It baffles me.

Never seen Norberto fight and my knowledge of the local Dominican Republic boxing scene is really lacking.

But from looking at his record he only won 1 of his first 8 fights, I do love a fighter who turns his career around after a terrible start.

very little of value in his record on the dominican scene, by far his most credible result is the draw 4 years back vs kono
