Have you ever really thought about this age old tradition and how silly it is? In preparation for a hand to hand battle with their lives on the line, they first need to get their faces as close as possible without blinking to show how tough they are. While almost naked, you are supposed to get close enough to make out with the other guy. Who came up with this? How is this a sign of toughness?

Personally, i find them uncomfortable as hell. The only entertaining ones end with fists being thrown and most of them have been proven to be an act and showmanship. Let the boxers put their clothes on and say a few words into the microphone to each other. I'm good with seeing them touch noses...to me that's not tough.

Yeah, I was going to say that I've seen Pacquiao in several of these intense, threatening weigh-in staredowns.

I doubt he pays much attention to criticism or the incessant goading from Sanchez.

I agree with you. I dislike all this showbiz baloney, including these idiotic drawn out circus. The tradition isn't "age old" either. When did they come up with the presser & stare down baloney, maybe 10 years ago? It reminds me of a game we played when we were little kids: stare at each other and the first one to blink or laugh loses ha ha!

It's boring without them, though. Oftentimes, the animosity drags into the ring like Chisora/Whyte. Great part of the sport.

I hear it said a lot that boxing is a sport you dont "play". You play football, basketball, tennis, etc. but you dont PLAY boxing. You fight or you box...

The same can be said of MMA/UFC which is a lot more like WWE than boxing is. One thing that always cracks me up is in UFC fights when the ringside commentators start screaming and yelling to try to "pump up" the TV audience.
