yes unfortunately when Canelo needed a breather golovkin needed a breather rather than pushing the pace. It was a gruelling pace also. Non stop tension. Never seen Canelos stamina better. That’s how you beat those older fighters, make them work for every minute of every road which I thought Canelo made golovkin do until he got clipped in the later rounds.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 01:09Yeah, that's the thing — Canelo's a hard enough puncher to buy time resting, and Golovkin's a bit too old to force him to work, carrying as that does the risk of getting caught hard on the counter.Covfefe wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 01:08The movement is definitely a big problem for him, early on he was making GGG work just with his footwork when he wasn’t even throwing. He keeps him from really setting his feet and he’s a good enough puncher himself he dissuades Golovkin from just trying to blow him out of there. There was some really great work in there at times, it was a great watch.

I'd say we're thinking of the same moment, when Golovkin had to step off the gas with the remaining rounds in mind, when it felt like there was a real opening for pressure had he been a few years younger. He seemed to stop himself at the right time, as he was breathing heavily straight after.lazboy wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 01:16yes unfortunately when Canelo needed a breather golovkin needed a breather rather than pushing the pace. Canelo's evasiveness in concert with Golovkin's age is definitely the key for me, and I find it hard to imagine a third fight playing out much differently. Golovkin's pressure now relies on more stationary targets, or greater confidence in finding a knockdown. Canelo's too good to get stopped, but not good enough to win convincingly.

Agree mate however I thought Canelo did enough. Sure not a domination and it was a close fight really thought (Canelo) he deserves it if we are adding it up round by round. He did it the right way, coming forward, stuck his nose into it and went to work.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 01:31I'd say we're thinking of the same moment, when Golovkin had to step off the gas with the remaining rounds in mind, when it felt like there was a real opening for pressure had he been a few years younger. Teddy never ceases to amaze me, in a funny way. He was going for Canelo by the way.

Wow! What a great fight. I've read no comments since watching the fight. I scored every round as I went along and rounds 8, 10 and 11 I watched back again as I wasn't sure. I used a very helpful method of breaking each round into minutes and deciding in my mind who had won each minute in order to score each round.
At the end of the fight I didn't know who I had winning until I totted up my scores and found I had Golovkin the winner 117 to 116 (SCA/GGG - 9/10, 10/9, 10/10, 9/10, 9/10, 10/9, 10/10, 10/10, 9/10, 10/10, 10/10, 10/9)
The first fight was an absolute disgrace as regards the scoring. GGG won clearly. This time it was very very close and although I had Golovkin edging it on my scorecard, I have no complaint about the decision. Yes it might have been tilted toward the home fighter but that's par for the course.
I was strangely unenthused about this fight in the months and weeks leading up to it, but now I'd be very happy to see a third fight between them, preferably at a different location . Now I'm going to read the thread and find out what you thought.

Too many even rounds.. Could you not split the rounds?candyslim wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 05:52 Wow! What a great fight. I've read no comments since watching the fight. At least five rounds were so close that they could have been awarded to either fighter based on one's personal stylistic preferences.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 08:21Too many even rounds.. HBO and Harold Lederman both conceded this. The BT Sports pundits were also undecided on who won the bout.
The outcome of this bout almost certainly wasn't a robbery.
If Canelo and GGG engage in a seemingly inevitable third fight of their trilogy in twelve months time, I'd favour the Mexican to emerge victorious in a decisive manner.

After 8 ounds I had Canelo in front 78-76 or 4 round to 2 with 2 Even but then GGG won rounds 9/10/11/12 to win 116-114 i thought even though it was a great it seems Canelo will never loss a Decision unless it's a shutout type of fight like the Mayweather one and we know what happened there with the majority decision

Did you feel that the last four rounds were tough to score?ClivePatrickLyons wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 09:03 After 8 ounds I had Canelo in front 78-76 or 4 round to 2 with 2 Even but then GGG won rounds 9/10/11/12 to win 116-114 i thought even though it was a great it seems Canelo will never loss a Decision unless it's a shutout type of fight like the Mayweather one and we know what happened there with the majority decision
For instance, both BT and HBO awarded the 12th round to Canelo. Two of the official judges also scored that round in favour of the Mexican. Even Abel Sanchez said that GGG "took off the last round".
If you tweaked your scorecard accordingly, then you would have had it a draw.
I've watched the fight twice and I really struggle to determine the winner of at least five rounds, hence the reason why I'm mystified about some of the outrage being expressed by several forum members at GGG's loss.

The way I see it is if the round is so close that you could make a case for either, depending on personal preferences ( ie volume of punches versus weight or accuracy, skillful boxing on the retreat versus making the fight boxing on the front foot and so on) then it's better to call it like that, otherwise you can be creating a two point swing on nothing more than a whim.
I'd rather be accused of sitting on the fence than risk awarding two points to potentially the wrong man. That's my philosophy, I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

Came across "Assassin" the other day. Pretty good movie with some interesting twists. Fun action and decent backstory of a guy whose girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack at a resort. He then commits his life to tracking down the terror cell and ends up at the CIA. That's when the fun really begins!
