"QUEENSLAND power puncher Mark Flanagan has a great chance to become Australia’s next world boxing champion when he challenges for the interim WBA cruiserweight world title in France next month."
Had a twitter 'discussion with Grantley Kieza about this. He said they all count.
Not sure agree with him. Thoughts?
Interim Titles
Re: Interim Titles
In my opinion if you’re the interim champ, you’re not really a world champ. Don’t get me wrong it puts you as the mandatory number 1, but you still haven’t won the world title. Still a great achievement.Grant wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 04:08 "QUEENSLAND power puncher Mark Flanagan has a great chance to become Australia’s next world boxing champion when he challenges for the interim WBA cruiserweight world title in France next month."

Re: Interim Titles
do titles like the wbu title count too
Re: Interim Titles
Neither interim, nor regular with other shite should be counted as titles. And no minor version of a title should be counted as well. I hope, there will never be more major belts, than today.
Re: Interim Titles
WBC kicked off renaming it "Silver" title...claiming Interim was abused ??? Naturally, its affiliates had adopted same bullshit .....most likely due to sanction $$ + earn

Re: Interim Titles
Interim and regular World Title Belts are just ways for governing bodies like the WBC/WBA/WBO/IBF AND THE OTHER World Title's
out there like the IBO ETC ETC To make money [sanctioning fee's] of the promoter's with these bogus World Title fight's you do not go down in the boxing hall of fame as a World Champion winning these belt's
in the old days you would be the number 1 or 2 ranked contender but today your the Regular or Interim World Champ
it makes Boxing very complicated
and did Grantlee Kieza really say that he should know better

Re: Interim Titles
Interim titles don't count, you didn't beat the champ. It's as simple as that.
Any of the other BS titles "Silver/Coal/Bronze/Copper" don't count and neither do the "Diamond/Gold/Grand Poobah" either.
It's bad enough having different organisations having a "world" champ.

Re: Interim Titles
Interim titles are just "Claytons" titles - the titles you have when not having a title!
Re: Interim Titles
Ironically the WBC will reportedly sanction the bout between Whyte (their Silver belt holder and supposed to be mandatory challenger) and Breazeale (their actual mandatory challenger) for the WBC Interim title.
Huh? What now?
