Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Gee, who's gonna take the bait?
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
lol, ya, like there were no scores for canelo
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
There's no way anyone couldn't have scored it for Alvarez if they wanted to..
Alvarez stood right in front of GGG and pressed him.
GGG's jab was on once it got going.
Alvarez's chin was amazing, GGG got red around the eyes and shots from both sprayed around the target.
Jabs, Left Hooks, Body shots, Straight lefts it went on.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Let's get real -- For the record, I scored both fights 114-114...
If you combine the people who..
- Didn't score the fight using 10-pt must.
- Can't score a fight using 10-pt must.
- Biased for Golovkin.
- Biased against Canelo.
- Biased for the "bigger" man.
You probably have 97% of people who watched the fight. Plus it was a close fight.. so it is not surprising that hardly anyone scored it for Canelo.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Who in the media scored it for Alvarez? GGG rocked Alvarez several times, not so the reverse. Yeah I was rooting for GGG but i didn't feel strongly about it. I agreed with the scoring I heard on the tv, GGG up 2 to 4 rounds.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Canelo ripped GGG with a number of shots throughout the fight.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
He did indeed but he didn't stagger him like GGG did to Canelo. Actually i thought they are both great and it was a uniquely sensational fight that was ruined by the usual boxing judge baloney. Another thing rubbed me the wrong way was Alvarez celebrating on the ring ropes as soon as the fight ended, as tho he knew the fix was in and as long as he didn't get KOd he'd get the decision.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
GGG "ripped" Canelo with a number of shots through the fight too. So what?
So just because Canelo looked good at times, that automatically gives him the win?
FFS why not give him a participation trophy when he loses while you're at it.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Two media members out of about 50 gave it to Canelo. Boxers also mainly gave it to Golovkin.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Watch an ass kicking of 48 media members.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Harold Lederman a good start ?
He had it 116-112 GGG
He had it 116-112 GGG
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
what was your score evander
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
I could have seen it by a point either way.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
The lean by the media is stupid.
They were bought and sold before the first bell.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Embarrassing slant by the media.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
vander, what do you say to the ppl moaning that only 1 card out of 6 between the 2 fights was for ggg
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
It crossed my mind mid fight what Canelo had already done.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Who's next ...
Brian Campbell CBS
He had it 116-112 GGG

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Dan Rafael had it a draw.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
I want to know what the pros thought. Abel’s modest about the situation not outspoken like last time. Clearly Canelo earn’t his respect.
Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Canelo stood face to face with GGG and traded.
Worst case for Canelo ... he has the best chin in boxing.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
Whilst I understand that most fight fans believed that GGG deserved to win the bout, you must understand that these sorts of lists are often produced by people possessing some sort of confirmation bias or trying to fulfil their own personal agenda, since it only took about two minutes to find five names that gave the nod to Canelo:
• Michelle Rosado (Raging Babe): 115-113 Canelo
• Graham Houston (Boxing Monthly): Canelo won
• Amir Khan
• Andre Ward
• David Haye
It’s also astounding that this list excludes the opinions of important people, such as Abel Sanchez (GGG’s trainer), who scored the bout as a draw! How many times does he need to speak to the MEDIA in order for his name to warrant inclusion in these sorts of lists?
You also have to understand that even though Harold Lederman scored the fight 87-84 in favour of GGG after nine rounds, he acknowledged at the time that the judges would be easily justified to score it the other way.
This is important, because Canelo was portrayed as a stereotypical pantomime villain prior to the bout and a lot of GGG fans watching the fight via HBO would be influenced and also buy into Harold Lederman’s scorecards, since it adhered to their preferred narrative.
The HBO pundits also acknowledged that several writers sat ringside had Canelo leading after ten rounds, which they said shortly before the start of the eleventh round.
For the record, I’m not debating whether GGG or Canelo won the bout, since I’ve seen the fight twice and had a different scorecard both times. I find it almost impossible to objectively determine the winner of at least five rounds.
And let’s face it, the vast majority of people tend refrain from scoring 10-10 rounds, which means that some sort of bias often comes into play, whether it’s to award close rounds to their favoured fighter or alternatively based solely on their personal stylistic preferences.

Re: How the media scored the GGG-Alvarez fight
ya good post, lol at ppl whining so much, it was a really close fight with a lot of swing rounds
as for graham houston, i find it kind of confusing as to what he actually scored. because he seemed to say he thought canelo needed the 12th to win and that he thought canelo won the 12th, and then he seems to be tweeting with a pro-canelo tone, but then he said to someone he didnt add up his card but he thinks he gave canelo the 12th to make it a draw?
either way he obviously didnt think it was a robbery, and rightfully pointed out how off the mark a lot of the crying is
