Post by Neri »

Whats going on with Guzman's weight ??? Short article from http://www.fightnews.com

WBC super welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga and Oscar De La Hoya both weighed in today at 153.5 in advance of tomorrow night's PPV showdown. Kassim Ouma and Marco Antonio Rubio both scaled in at 153 for their undercard bout, however Joan Guzman must lose 1.5 pounds in the next two hours for his bout against Javier Jauregui. Also Jorge Paez Jr. tipped the scale at 136 against Lowell Brownfield at 135.5.

Madness :-?

Shows how badly he would have struggled to make Featherweight which is exactly why they did not pursue the Harrison fight IMO

Wrong.

Guzman didn't/doesn't have to lose any weight.

The fight wasn't contracted @ 130.

Just seen Guzman, very fast hands, may lack power though. Would of gave Harrison a tricky night's work thats for sure.

I thought Guzman got hit way too much but maybe that was just his showboating. I was kind of hoping he would get humbled Vivian Harris style the way he was prancing around and insulting his opponent.

I can't believe that Guzman came in with a 9 lb weight advantage on the night and never tried anything other than arm punches.
I don't know anthing about the man or his character, but was he maybe not willing to take an unfair advantage?

Just seen Guzman, he would have shut out Harrison and beat him up. Just too good. He may beatanyone at 130 though so thats not a knock

That was my first viewing of Guzman and i am even more gutted the Harrison bout was cancelled, Guzman looks to have a lot of quality. I think Scott would have been in serious danger of losing, imagine Guzman running round him popping in body shots and flashy combinations all night while Harrison stalked forward. His weight was an issue last night though, can't believe he came in 10 stone 8 pounds allegedly, he didn't look that big to me but can't argue with the facts.

Just on a side note, i have never seen so many fat people in a ring after a fight in my life, i'm surprised they had room for the ref and the announcer! That geezer in Guzman's corner was huge! And so was the guy in the brown suit, probably a fight supervisor or something.
