Anthony Joshua has on occasion looked robotic, whilst inching around the ring on stiff legs, when he weighed in excess of 250lbs against Carlos Takam and Wladimir Klitschko. The Brit’s optimal weight is probably somewhere around the 240lbs mark.
And to be perfectly honest with you, the Brit is too heavily muscled for a boxer and he should really be weighing less than 235lbs or so.
I don’t believe that Robert McCracken wants his charge to weigh more than 245lbs because AJ is noticeably slower and is also prone to fatiguing as well when he bulks up.
Therefore, I expect Anthony Joshua to be within a couple of pounds (either way) of the 242lbs he weighed against Joseph Parker.
I expect Alexander Povetkin to weigh within a couple of pounds (either way) of his 228lbs average weight. It would be a huge mistake for him to bulk up just because he’s facing a much bigger opponent, as it’d sacrifice one of the few advantages he holds over the Brit, which is hand-speed.
If AJ weighs close to 250lbs or more, then I suspect the Brit underestimates the threat posed by Povetkin, based on previous claims about Joshua being a better fighter the lighter he weighs.

My opinion in pounds: Povetkin 225lbs, Joshua 243lbs
Re: Weigh In ... What will they come in at ?
243 ?
I'd bet against it.
I'd be starting at 247.

AJ weighs 246lbs. Povetkin weighs 222lbs. The Russian is slightly lighter than usual. The Brit is around his typical weight.
