Lomachenko vs Pedraza set for December 8

"Lomachenko vs Pedraza set for December 8"

Vasiliy Lomachenko’s first lightweight title defense is set.

Vasiliy Lomachenko will defend his WBA “super world” lightweight title for the first time on December 8, when he faces Jose Pedarza for the title on December 8 at the Hulu Theater in New York, according to RingTV.com.

Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KO) will be defending the title he won on May 12 from Jorge Linares, after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum. Pedraza (25-1, 12 KO) is perhaps a tougher test than Ray Beltran would have been, but will still be a sizable underdog.

Pedraza beat Beltran on August 25 to set up the date with Lomachenko, resulting in an all-Top Rank card, which works out well for the promoter and for TV network ESPN, which will televise the fight. Either way that August fight went, ESPN was in business with Top Rank.

Lomachenko, 30, is considered perhaps the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, and no worse than one of the top few. Pedraza, 29, is a legitimate contender to his 135-pound throne, the WBO champion and a real opponent.

Fighting a world champ coming off a shoulder surgery is the type of thing that people love about loma. i personaly was expecting a tune up. but by doing this his next fight could be mikey for all the belts witch would be epic.

its not super intereting, but realistically its one of the best opponents loma can face at 135 and it would perfectly make the place for an undisputed mikey vs loma fight if that could happen. also obviously a step up on beltran, who seemed for a long time like hed be fighting loma

btw, lw doesnt really have that many interesting opponents for loma imo, considering he already beat linares. pedraza is top 5 with boxrec, the ring, and espn but id say hes merely decent rather then a good interesting opponent for loma. imo the fights really interesitng for loma would be mikey, tank, berchelt , and maybe pac

ya, so really its one of the best guys out there at lw and he does have a belt so loma can unify the first time, but i hope lomas not just gonna build up a lw record vs solid but unspectacular guys like is, i want him to fight at least one of mikey, tank, berchelt, or pac next year

I can take this, because he is coming from a shoulder injury and Pedraza just defeated Beltran. But after this, Loma should fight Davis, Berchelt or Mikey Garcia :box: :box: :box:

Impressive feat, not sure what the physical benefits of that exercise are but it certainly shows a great deal of mental strength.

Which, I suppose, is just as important.

Let's face it, Pedraza IS a warmup. He's not on Loma's level and it will show. The problem is that the one worthwhile opponent in the divison (Garcia) will never take the fight due to promotional fuckery.
