Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
Who would win?
Re: Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
I mean considering Floyd never beat a natural Middleweight, and you're trying to match him against one of the very best Middleweights that ever lived I'd say it ain't looking good for Floyd. Hagler was a pretty good boxer in his own right, and if nothing else he could just walk down Floyd, and beat the sh*t out of him.

Not a fair fight. Marvelous would be too big for Pretty Boy Floyd.
Re: Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
Floyd wasn't a MW. Hagler would have mauled him down.

Doesn't seem like a fair fight to me.
I can see why you'd ask the question, as history is littered with great WWs who've gone up to MW and beaten great fighters, but FMJ was not a big WW; he came up from lower weights and sort of topped out at LMW or 152 in his language.
Floyd has no form at 160 and as great as he was, he isn't going up to 160 to beat a peak Hagler who is a top 5 all-time MW.

Of course Floyd could win.... Mayweather promotions...
He'd wait til Hagler was at the end of his career much like Leonard.
He'd insist on a catchweight prob 155-156 for the "middleweight championship".
Would be in his backyard of course seeing as how he never left it.
His gloves his ring his ref his judges his jockstrap.
If hes still standing after 12:
Chuck giampa 117-111
Dave Moretti. 116-112
Dalby Shirley. 118-110
Vegas was never kind to Hagler, nor any other non house fighter..hell if he knocked em out they'd probably disqualify him..

Hagler weighed under the 160 limit numerous times and 155-156 would of been a breeze for Hagler to make.Duran1970 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2018, 15:39 Of course Floyd could win.... Mayweather promotions...

Re: Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
That's a fight I wouldn't wish on somebody I hated. Hagler really was a monster in that ring at his peak. Duran managed to damn near beat him (12-13 rounds that fight was Duran's), but Hagler always had reserves and he fought harder the more confused or hurt he was.

Hagler wasn't a big middleweight by any means. He probably fought at MW because he's too big to make 147. 154 did not exist then. By the time 154 weightclass was in full effect, Hagler was already the dominant MW champion. He's listed as 5'10" but likely 5'8" to 5'9". He would probably be a light middle today but would've ran through Floyd though.

Way before Hagler.
If Hagler was around today with 24 hour weigh ins I actually believe he would fight at Welterweight.
But either way Hagler would be too big and strong for Mayweather

You're correct. It just wasn't considered to have a reputable champion until Hearns era.

Re: Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
what mayweather does to southpaws, is he gets you thinking about a jab, puts it right on top of your eyes, and then steal you with a right hand.

when he is not trying to steal you with a right hand, he is moving, to get you moving, so you can never set your feet to punch.
you wont get into any shootouts, because he is only trying to steal you, not punch with you, and you wont get to counter, because you wont see those right hands coming.
he must jump on top of mayweather. he wont win trying to box.

Re: Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
I don’t Floyd can stretch himself as far as to fight at middleweight and Hagler sure as hell ain’t shedding pounds to face him.
Re: Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
I don't think Mayweather could do what Leonard did. Leonard was a bigger guy in the first place. I think Mayweather is too small.
Hagler was a proper middleweight and an excellent one.
This isn't a case of cherry picking a weaker belt holder which is the only way Mayweather could win a middleweight belt.
I think Hagler catches up with him and stops him.

Re: Prime Marvin Hagler vs Floyd Mayweather
remember some of those guys mayweather beat rehydrated up to to 165-170 in the ring.
marvin had a tendency to wait on guys too. you cant wait on mayweather. thats how he beats you.
