CompuBox Final 4 Analysis: Wilder vs. Fury, Joshua vs. Povetkin

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

It's here. The Heayweight Final Four. Anthony Joshua-Alexander Povetkin tonight and Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury on December 1. CompuBox takes a closer look at their numbers in many key statistical categories.

Joshua (+13.8) & Wilder (+12.7) neck & neck in plus/minus category. Fury (53 thrown per round) is by far the busiest. Wilder landed nearly 41% of his total punches, the only active fighter to land 40% or higher with his total punches.

Wilder landed nearly 8 jabs per round, while Joshua landed 6.4 per round. Povetkin is all about the power punch, as 10.2 of his 12.9 landed punches (79%) are power shots. Wilder landed 53.8% of his power shots- 17% higher than the CompuBox avg. Opponents landed 36.8% of their power shots on Wilder, while Joshua opponents landed just 26.2%. Opponents of ALL four heavyweights landed well below the CompuBox avg. for total punches.

Plus/Minus determined by subtracting opponents connect pct. from listed fighters connect pct....OTC% is opponents total punch conn pct....OPC% is opponents power punch connect pct.

What's compubox  :witzend:

Think about a fight with a lot of punches being thrown. Do you think somebody could keep up and click different buttons for jab, power punch, landed, didn't land, head, body, etc. NO. What are their qualifications? Did they ever judge a fight in the amateurs, pros, etc. It's all bullshit for the talking heads to have something to talk about so that casual boxing fans might understand.
