It was a TKO , a barrage of punches while Mayorga was on the ropes , although DLH did drop him with a beautiful punch in the first and put him down in the 6th from about 3 punches .

He did the same to Vargas, who taunted insulted him mercilessly.

There's a lesson there; if you are going to run off at the mouth & insult your opponents, you better make sure that you win.

Mayorga, Vargas & some other fighters whos have achieved nothing in their careers should take note.

I've always thought Mayorga was hugely overrated. Very humble brawler.

DLH actually mentioned the taunts in the post-fight interview, saying how much they motivated him. Despite the smiles, you could see he was still seething about them. Incredible sportsmanship at the end to say he forgave him when he'd been saying stuff about his wife and kids (so DLH said). I'd have had nothing to do with the prick.

Absolutely right.

ODLH is a true sportsman, but I couldn't be so tolerant.

I'd have given Mayorga a nice Roberto Duran end of fight stare, just for starters!!!!

You are quite the clown. I remember you being on here posting rubbish about Martin Power before. Would you not have at least read a report somewhere on the fight instead of asking "was it a good punch?".

That was a great fight to watch - ODLH hand speed is fantastic and I love watching him. There was talk of him fighting PBF - not sure if this will come off - I guess it will be a massive payday for both but can't see ODLH beating him..

Thank god for that, I hope that will shut up the critics... If you haven't seen the fight - think Mayorga vs Tito - if DLH in the Tito role.

He bullied the bully, showed balls the size of grapefruits.

Know doubt the critics will say Mayorga was shot and it didn't test DLH's stamina - but it was up there with his very best.

All i can say is hats off to DLH who totally shocked me last night with a classic display of box-punching. Mayorga basically had no answer at all last night and now DLH has proven himself to be well and truely back!

Last night was completely predictable DLH beating up on a very limited gimmick fighter.

No disrespect to DLH but that is what it was, He did everything asked of him and more though.

I could emagin PBF getting away with insulting him in the battle of the acronims and peoberbly getting away with it. Strange I wanted Vagras and Mayorga to win.

I think that uppercut Mayorga caught DLH with in the third would of KOed most other fighters in the division and it did momentarily put DLH's eyes into the back of his head, so full credit to that granite chin of his and going on to win the fight so convincingly.

I love ODLH.

He's a real fighter.

He just gets on with fighting, never ducks anybody, doesn't trash talk, then go in the ring & fight like a 5 yr old girl.

There are a lot of fighters who could learn a thing or two from Oscar De La Hoya.

where do you think Mayorga goes from hear. I suspect there are always good fights for guys who are willing to slug it out with there opponents. In terms of Mayorga he doesn't seem to be a true world class opperator but does well just below that level. I would like to see him trained by McGrit or Emmanual Stewart someone who would keep his wildness but also give him a bit more dissiplin in terms of his defence.

I agree with you about Mayorga not being a true world class operator.

To be honest, I don't even think having McGirt or Steward will help him.

If DLH fights to that standard against Floyd he definitely has a chance. I'd even make the fight about 50/50. I didn't think he was still capable of a display as good as that. Didn't look rusty at all, either.

I agree with you about Mayorga not being a true world class operator.

To be honest, I don't even think having McGirt or Steward will help him.

Mayorga might not have deserved his P4P ranking that some people gave him - but I think its harsh to say he isn't world class - beaten too many good fighters (even outside of Forrest) to say he isn't world class.

Sure you get some world champions who are not world class - like Hide, Bent, and even Carlos Maussa.. But a unified welterweight champion and a Light Middle champ (okay his Light Middle championship was kind of given to him by King)... But still has wins over Forrest (x 2) and Six Heads, even the likes of Eric Mitchel, Elio Ortiz, Hurtarto, Picarillo, and runing Cory Spinks very close is the sign of a world class fighter.

I think Mayorga vs Vargas would be intriguing.

I think Mayorga vs Vargas would be intriguing.

At one point I would have listed Mayo as one of the most exciting fighters in the game to watch. Now I have to admit I think he is no more than a flash in the pan who managed a shock KO win against an unfocussed Forrest who took him far too lightly. He then got inside his head and managed to get the decision in the second fight, before getting thoroughly exposed for his limitations against Spinks, and then getting humiliated and getting the absolute shit beaten out of him against Tito and Oscar. Mayorga built his name on being tough. Did anybody think he looked tough as he turned away from DLH in the sixth round and looked like a little boy in a supermarket who had lost his mother? Nobody will buy into any of that anymore, he hasn't even stopped an opponent since Forrest.
