Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
Povetkin too small to hurt joshua?

i call bullshit on that! a technically right executed punch by a grown man, if it lands flush, right on the sweet spot & you don't see it coming (or too late) knocks DOWN any man. The "BIGGER" the harder they fall! . Povetkin is capable of hurting joshua plenty, the only question is, if he can close the distance and let go of his combinations or if joshua let's him die on the long end of his jab and plays huggybear everytime pov gets on the inside. agreed, worst case would be a repetition of the vlad-povetkin scenario, where klitschko should have been warned and subsequenly disqualified and i´m afraid the chances are not too bad that that`s what`s gonna happen. hope joshua comes to box, the ref will do his job, then we will see a good fight.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
That's just it. Povetkin doesn't really throw combinations anymore. He's kinda a one punch at a time guy these days. His money punch is his Overhand right these days, but he'll throw 30 left hooks for every right hand it seems for some inexplicable reason. The last few times I've watched him it seems almost as if his Ring IQ is non-existent.adislav123 wrote: ↑21 Sep 2018, 14:52 Povetkin too small to hurt joshua?i call bullshit on that! a technically right executed punch by a grown man, if it lands flush, right on the sweet spot & you don't see it coming (or too late) knocks DOWN any man. Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
Hard to say how much Povetkin has left. Been a while since he’s beaten a truly solid opponent and his power seems to have diminished a bit since he was forced to stop juicing.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
Well, it wasn't even close to a mismatch.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
pov fought very respectably and deserved 3 or 4 rounds. hes still a good fighter but aj just too much, brutal end
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
I am still undecided....
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
I gave Povetkin 1, 2, 3, 5, the others were closer.

Damn. I had Sasha ahead but figured the judges would rob him, but then he got caught all right and no question about the ending. No complaints really. They both fought an honest fight, no hanging on, no clinching, no cheating. The ref was great and kept himself completely out of the spotlight which is what a good ref does, and it didnt go the scorecards.

For at least the first two rounds it looked like i was going to be right and it was indeed going to be a mismatch in favor of Povetkin!

Every great fighter has one last great fight in them.
Povetkin had his last great fight. I hope he goes out after this performance.
Nothing for him to be embarrassed by. Fantastic showing on Povetkin's part

Tonight's stream was very impressive, way way better than the virus infested freezing free streams! Is it worth keeping? The first month is supposed to be a free trial. Any more good fights on their schedule?Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑20 Sep 2018, 18:29 The fight is being commercially streamed in the US if this is to be believed. Does anybody know if "DAZN" is legit?

Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
Joshua was clearly losing...until he wasn’t. Anyone know what the real cards were? He was probably “winning”.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
The official judges all had him up. I think it was 59-55 and 58-56 2x for AJ on the official cards. I saw somebody mention it in the U.K. Forum. I forget the exact scores, but I know it was unanimous for Joshua at the time of the KO.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
That’s an atrocity. But no surprise. Everyone knows Povetkin needed a KO to get a draw.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
Unbelievable ! Joshua is a great champion, and he doess not need this kind of help. Maybe, I am an old fool , but yesterday, I have been listening Željko Mavrović's comments, he had not any dilemma - before the TKO, Povetkin has been a better one. This kind of judges will kill boxing, definitely.diddy wrote: ↑23 Sep 2018, 01:14That’s an atrocity. But no surprise. Everyone knows Povetkin needed a KO to get a draw.
Should Wilder (or Fury, too) accept to face Joshua in UK ?

Mavrovic! I was wondering about him. Where were you listening to him? It was another case of big size differences in the heavyweight division and the need for a super heavyweight and other heavy weight classes. His only loss came in his final fight to Lennox Lewis and I thought he could have beaten Lewis except he was outweighed by almost 30 pounds. He had a website once and I think it was about his involvement in farming but I think that website is long gone.ValMar wrote: ↑23 Sep 2018, 01:34Unbelievable ! Yea, I and pretty much everybody was expecting that the boxing judges tonight we're going to render the usual phony boxing judge decision. I had Pov ahead but I figured the judgettes had the expected shutout for the house fighter. At least the referee was fair, in fact he was very good and kept himself totally out of the limelight which is what good referees do. Had the fight been in Las Vegas or New York not only the judges would have been fixed but the referee would have been messing around with the fighters jumping between them, the usual crap you see.
I was wondering if Joshua ever gets a real drug test, that is not a home town Doc Margaret-style drug test. We know that Povetkin has been tested upside down and inside out. At least one boxer, Whyte, said that he knows that Joshua uses drugs and indeed his body development over the years indicates that he might. On the other hand Joshua doesnt display the "roid rage" that so many of them now do.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
Joshua-Povetkin has been a good match. Povetkin has been more dangerous than i expected. A lot of hooks are penetreted because a lack of defense by Joshua. For me Fury will beat Joshua quite easily.
Re: Joshua vs. Povetkin, a mismatch or not ?
I guess there is 23 people on the forum feeling pretty stupid now
Povetkin did really well considering hes age. There is no beating the father time.
Nice stoppage for Joshua and great name to add on to hes list of defeated foes
He did it two rounds faster than I was expecting

Ilya, Mavrović works as an boxing expert on RTL TV in Croatia (and region).
He is a genuine gentleman, of course.

Well that was just perfect for me. I managed to avoid the result until this afternoon when I got a chance to watch it on YouTube (Not a great quality video but I'm grateful anyway)
It was the result I wanted. A convincing win for AJ after overcoming a proud and very tough warrior in Povetkin, who was every bit as good as I told my friends and colleagues that he would be. He has nothing to be ashamed of and if he had been a few years younger it might have been an even more testing night for Joshua.
It's easy to see how effective a shorter boxer can be against a bigger opponent if he has the skills, the knowledge, and the experience to turn his lack of height to his advantage. Were you watching Luis Fernando?
The referee was excellent. Joshua showed real class in his interaction with Sasha after the fight. The only sour note was the judging. Maybe AJ was ahead after six rounds or maybe he wasn't, but he certainly wasn't 5 - 1 ahead.
FFS score the fight fairly and accurately and may the best man win ... even if that is the 'away' fighter.
