I think on paper people said it was poor too..

It;s like Whyte-Parker event, people said it wasn't a ppv worthy event. but in the end, the event delivered. and some said it was worth my £20 etc.
I think a bit of both tbh, the card looked thin on boxrec and a couple of the fights where stinkers

I think it sticks in your throat a bit purely because of the amount of PPVs nowadays. The undercard was dreadful, but I wasn't moaning too much about it in the build up - it looked half decent, if not great, on paper.

Okolie has done irreparable damage to his long term marketability. There is no way he should ever get a slot on PPV ever again, and I can't see anyone being interested in watching him headline a normal Sky card. As a potential money-maker, he is done.... and rightly so. For all Hearn's faults, I think he'll know that as well and we won't see him again (unless there is a huge change in his style).

Okolie did a Witter.

Witter has his chance on PPV, not only live PPV in the UK but also in the US. He produced a performance that only Johnny Nelson could have appreciated. I was watching the Okolie fight in a bar and the stench in the bar during the Okolie fight was literally as if everyone in the bar farted at the same time. The guy completely stunk the joint out. The guys in the bar, and the bar was pretty full because of Joshua, will be running the other way whenever they see Okolie.

The reason Hearn gets booed is for putting garbage like that on and making mugs out of the public.

I'm still annoyed that the following were PPVs.

Joshua vs White

White vs Parker

Clev vs Bellew.

I think you must have a world title headline to be a PPV at least.

I agree, unless you have that much draw power..

Mayweather's non-title fights

When Tyson returned from his prison sentence, the fight against McNeely got 1.6 million buys on Showtime.

Joshua is another that has the draw power now.. He earns too much. If he loses his world titles, he has to accept a lower pay for sure. Sky will still not be able to put the funds up to pay him, so will still have him on PPV.

The fights mentioned above, I agree.. Not PPV. Joshua vs. Whyte had a good undercard I believe. But a PPV event usually focuses on the main event. Sky are just good at building up the fight.

It is definitely up there with the P4P worst PPVs we've ever been hit with. Some have fights that stink that were good on paper. On paper this one smacked of a lack of effort to make it value for money. Boxing fans are used to PPVs that are piss takes, this one was a fornicating piss take.

So you think the Bellew v cleverly 2 show was worse than than the Khan v Prescott PPV show by some distance?

To be fair, I didn't think Khan v Prescott was on PPV - I thought it was normal Sky, but granted, that one was equally as bad.

Equally as bad? Check the undercard of both shows - I’d argue that the main event and undercard were better on the Bellew v Clev PPV.

Joshua - Povetkin was nowhere near the worst ever PPV, probably not even top 5. We’ve been served up loads of sh!t over the years, but we just keep coming back for more :yay:
