LEICESTER CARD OCT 6TH - QUERY

Post by GlobalBox »

Any of you guys know if Sam Bowen has an opponent yet for his British title fight on the card, seems really late and nothing that I have seen about the fight.

Also anyone close to the card confirm Davies/Catterall only a 10 round fight according to boxrec?

Seems a little strange really, although I know these trinket titles can be over 10. Perhaps it's tv related to get
everything in on BT that they want.

Appreciate any updates re above, thanks guys.

No opponent yet. Won't be a vol defence as Carl Greaves couldn't get anyone (not many available, asked 1 who said no.)

It'll be an international fight.

You would think they might struggle now to get anyone at all at this late notice what with weight issues and stuff, thanks for the update though mate

Woodstock v Sharp looks a decent fight on paper as well, it's not the greatest card but it might turn out to be an interesting one on BT.

I might be wrong but I thought Bowen vs Clarke had been made

I thought it had but I also thought I heard that Bowen was fighting someone else but now it's not listed anywhere and the BBBOC have him against a TBA as do Boxrec, I think as the earlier poster said it will be Bowen against an import possibly as it just seems to late now to have a meaningful fight.

Ronnie is the mandatory and Sam was meant to fight a voluntary for this one. Ronnie was just back in training and purse bid was only settled in this month's notices. Too soon. The fight is happening in December should Sam get threw his next one unscathed.

Opponent named tomorrow.
According to Carl Greaves he's a tough opponent who not many would face after 13 fights.

I’m heading along to this. Where and when will the timings be announced. I don’t want to miss any action but equally don’t want to be sat around waiting.
Thanks for any advice 👍🏻

Still no announcement on Bowen opponent. Hopefully Carl Greaves announces today. I know it's for WBO international belt. So not a defence of British belt.

is it actually bad, esp as a stay busy fight? the argies record looks okay for this level and last year he travelled to widely beat a 25-0 prospect every bit as proven as the likes of zelfa barret. hes also mainly been fighting at 135 so not just some little guy, and hes not old either

not knowing doesnt = poor, i think its a decent opponent

Decent fight picked there from their team.. A guy who’s ranking is a lot higher than his boxing ability. He doesn’t carry any power to hurt Bowen so he should just walk through him and force a stoppage. Will gain very good ranking points very good tactical opponent and also good for his fight v Clark as more ranking points will be available

It is happening. He's mandatory so Bowen has to fight him. Before the end of the year also. Ronnie will not walk away from it and is training for it. Best shape he's ever been in and is sparring James Tennyson in preparation for his world title fight.
