Canelo Alvarez Not Ageed IBO Sanction Fees; Title Vacated

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Canelo Alvarez did not agree to a sanctioning fee with the IBO, meaning it's middleweight title is now vacant. Gennady Golovkin had held the IBO belt since 2011 and had defended 17 times

Canelo can throw all the belts away.

Fans pay to see the fighters. These ubiquitous belts are meaningless these days. Few fans are lured by the diluted world champions anymore. Just too many of them.

The belts are only important to the sanctioning bodies so it can collect fees.

I don't blame him, always amazing to see top fighters like AJ GGG etc keeping hold of it, costs money and I doubt it adds a cent to tickets sales etc.

He the type of fighter that doesn't need belts.. He attracts fans regardless. Belts are like a small bonus for him. He's a 2-weight world champion, he's won like 6-7 world titles I think.

Unlike AJ.. Hearn kinda sells AJ's fights as legacy fights. as hit's the UK etc.
