Is Hughie Fury going to defeat Pulev?

Post by chuck9788 »

Hughie Fury (21-1, 11 KO's) is talking about having the ability to defeat Anthony Joshua. Prior to that (possible) fight happening Fury faces an October 27th match up in Bulgaria vs Kubrat Pulev (25-1, 13 KO's).

For Fury, this is a road fight vs a former world title challenger who is 5-0, 2 KO's since his lone defeat to a prime Wlad Klitschko.

So how do you see this fight playing out?

Whatever the result, it has about a 70% chance of being a stinker.
Huggie did OK from an entertainment point of view against Sexton, but Parker was the stinkiest British fight this decade, up until Okolie last week topped it.
It's not a fight I'm looking forward to, and will only watch it if it's free.

You could well be right. There is that chance that if Huggie catches him, he could go for the finish ala Sexton.
I knew Pulev wasn't that active, but he has dropped off the boxrec rankings when I checked
Dosent bode well if he is rusty.

Fury has to come to really fight to win in sofia. No way in hell will he get the decision if he doesn't dominate & visibly hurt pulev. Don't think he can knock pulev out. He's capable of boxing circles around him but has to let the hands really go AND SIT DOWN ON HIS PUNCHES (if he learned anything from the parker fight). Pulev is a quite stationary target, he has a good "fencing"jab, looking for holes to put in occasionally a hard right and he has a decent bang. Still Fury should be too elusive for him and i don't mean by getting on the bycicle. That said, it could easily be that fury gets fucked over no matter the performance he puts in anyways.

Comes down to one things really, how much has age and inactivity affected Pulev, not how biased the judges may be (they are everywhere so lets not act like this is any different). Pulev of a few years ago wins this easily but we don't even know if he's any good anymore, atleast with Povetkin he was active whilst he was ageing so we were able to gauge a little. I would still put my money on Pulev as Hughie is yet to do anything to prove to me he can beat a world or even European level boxer.

Sad fact is Vegas, London, Berlin, moscow, mexico, tokyo, stockholm or sofia, if there's (shit as it maybe) a title on the line & a tv contract involved the same rules of corruption apply anywhere nowadays. fornicate the money machinations!!! I already almost give a fornicate about the bought decisions, just wanna see a good fight and honor the real winner in my mind. Just so fornicating sad for the fighters who literally put their fornicating lives on the line.

In the fight of his life (against Parker) Fury showed very little fight against a fighter who was later criticised for not having heart. If pulev is able to pin down the elusive Fury he can out muscle and out tough him.

Yeh. It was a world title shot. The fact that one judge had it a draw gave his whole team belief. The other 2, including big Terry had it wde!!

Assuming the judges score the bout in an impartial manner, then Hughie Fury will beat Kubrat Pulev.

The Brit was unfortunate to not get the nod against Joseph Parker and I feel he's learned his lesson from that fight, as he needed to put more power in his shots rather than comprehensively outboxing his opponent.

Fury's most recent outing against Sexton appeared to have confirmed this, but it's easier said than done to achieve the same feat against Pulev.

On the one hand, rusty and aging Pulev can fail to handle Hughie, who obviously has more potential for the improvement. On the other hand, hometown judges can help Pulev. Objectively, Fury can do it, but how will it eventually turn out to be?

Hughie might not be the most exciting or the hardest hitting of heavyweights, but he's quick, has decent skills, and appears to have a decent chin and good stamina. I've seen many successful boxers down the years who can be described like that

Also he's only 23 and has plenty of time to improve and get his 'man-strength'.

I think he is going to box rings around an ageing and ring-rusty Pulev, but whether the judges will see it like that even if I'm right is another question entirely.

I don't think he is likely to beat Joshua but I've heard a lot more absurd suggestions, one of them being that neither of them is any good. I do hope that was a joke and not evidence that the site is inadvertently running a moron replacement programme.

Of course, because it will be a featherfisted, skinny bum/clown on his bycicle who can't punch through cardboard versus a fat, plodding, gassing, ancient, ringrusty clown/bum with zero skills who can't box shit, right?

Running around for 12 rounds and not throwing any punches isn’t comprehensively outboxing anyone. It was close; the Furys have horrible styles and never crowd pleasing plus Parker was a lot more aggressive.

Moreover, Parker threw more jabs, power punches and had the better percentages against Hughie.

And, for the record, I expect Pulev to easily beat Hughie who just isn’t very good and couldn’t break an egg.
