Post by fightfan95 »

If this tournament was to happen, how do you see the quater finals planning out and who would go on to win it?

Some of these are above this level. Substitute Dubois with Kash Ali and Fury with Alex Dickinson or Tom Little and it looks more likely and evenly matched.

Joyce is too seasoned for Dubois at this time, and I'd have to go with Hughie's proven ability to mix it at world level to edge past Gorman.

I've got high hopes for Joe Joyce but I suspect that although Hughie wouldn't hurt him, his speed and movement are exactly the tools required to de-activate Joyce and render him harmless, so despite my reservations I'm going to pick Fury.

Talking of British Heavyweights, good luck Naylor Ball who's got himself a live one in Bracknell tomorrow, in the shape of one of my favourite journeymen, Kamil Sokolowski.

The Devon based Pole is way better than his win/loss numbers would suggest and he is a very big ask for a youngster of 21 having his fifth fight.

I'm impressed with his ambition and I'm sure it will be a huge learning experience, although I'm not overly optimistic that he'll retain his unbeaten record.

Hughie vs Gorman in the first semi would be a snoozefest.

Alternatively, Joyce vs Dubois in the second semi would likely be a war.

Hughie would be a massive favourite, with good reason. I would expect him to outpoint all oppositionin this tournament.

What's Alex Dickinson like? Decent record.

High on dubois and think he beats price in the final.

Think something like this would really grab the casuals attention and be a great boost for the winner.

I really like Dubois but I'd like him to continue his slow steady progression against progressively more taxing opponents who will give him good experience without taking him to war. Kevin Johnson is perfect for his next fight.

When he finally emerges on world stage in about 18 months minimum, I want him fully equipped to cope with what's thrown at him, there's no point throwing him in with the likes of Joe Joyce at this stage, he's just not ready. I don't think there are more than a handful of heavyweights in the world that I would comfortably expect to defeat Joyce.

Would Hughie and Gorman fight each other?

They are travellers. The difficulty is in preventing them from fighting each other

Joyce and Hughie would be a tough one. They are a level above the others right now imo.
I think Cornish has medical issues?

Would be great to see a little tournament for the British title.... Perhaps something like this:

Gorman and Dubois in the final. Tough to pick a winner but if you insist Gorman as I feel he's a little further along. Dubois is attracting the attention but Gorman is no mug.

That's in reply to pukka-cheese, not the original tournament.
