To be fair, those things were being said about Mayorga before the match - the big imponderable was exactly what DLH had left, and he did show that he does have something. But Mayorga was really not very good, and to be fair has never really impressed. Great chin, great act, but not a boxer you'd want to learn anything from. If DLH hadn't picked him apart that would have been worse.
That said, fair play to the lad for such a clinical job and for putting Mayorga in such consistent trouble.
But Mayorga should never be seen as a gateway to Mayweather. Chalk and cheese were never more dissimilar. There's also the Mayweather snr issue.
I don't think DLH wants anything to do with the kind of pace Hatton could set.
