Obviously routing for Johnson, but the probably result is he gets stopped

From the limited footage I’ve seen of beterbiev, the type of opponent to beat him isn’t a banger like Johnson, unless of course he is a tougher and bigger banger than I’m giving him credit for. A mover like Ward or a Toney or Hopkins type cause him all sorts of problems

I really don't think there's much in this at all, both guys careers been hampered by inactivity, especially Johnson who's hopefully ready to step up to the plate, Beterbiev clearly carries concussive power but a more basic world champion you'll struggle to find, hard to believe he was such a seasoned amateur, he's so basic its unbelievable, hasnt fought since stopping Koelling in the last round to win the title and he was pretty poor that night even though he dominated the cards, ref stopped it to quick as well

Ive always liked Johnson remember him winning Commonwealth Gold for Scotland in what seemed a lifetime ago, early career absolutely ruined by spells on the sidelines, seems to have got a bit of momentum at last, picked up British and Commonwealth titles and had a bit of a coming out win against Buglioni, mullered a usually durable guy

I think Johnson can definitely win this, I do worry Beterbiev will tag him and finish him but I think Johnson can KO Beterbiev as well, he hits hard enough and Beterbiev isn't the easiest to catch clean, also I think Johnson is a better boxer and there's not much pro rounds between them although Beterbiev has mixed in much higher class

I'm going for Johnson to outbox Beterbiev and KO him, maybe even early, genuinely wouldn't surprise me in the slightest

Beterbiev is a big favourite with the bookies..................a Johnson win would be one of the more unlikely British world title wins

Johnson is tough and can properly bang, would love to see him get the win. Beterbiev is overrated but he is favourite in this fight.

I DO give Callum a puncher's chance, but I'd like to hear the case for Beterbiev 'not being all that'. ?!
Not saying you're wrong - loads of hyped KO artists have turned out rubbish after all - but, what have you seen ?
The only flaw I can think of is MAYBE he has bad stamina if/when you can last the first 6 ?

Mate he's slow and ponderous as fvck, if he never had a dig he'd be nothing, ive never seen his amateur career but for me I assume he's fell in love with his power and has neglected his skills, just walks forward really, pretty basic, no matter how many guys he's KO'd or who he beat in the ams

I will say though. he's probably top 5 p4p puncher in boxing right now

It wasn't exactly a hard-paced fight against a guy trying to win tho' was it !
I@m thinking Alvarez vs Kov type of way to beat him ?

berts biggest strength by far is his power, and its very good. he won in the 12th last time but even guys like wilder have gone 12 and had guys not go down. he hurt usyk good with a body shot in the ams too. but its true hes limited, wild, bit slow, and has been open.

bit of an unknown is johnson still to me though, was barely a minute vs bugs and hasnt really fought anyone else. he looks good to the eye test though

berts defo a favourite but i feel hes flawed enough where john cant be totally written off

Interesting one, well worth Callum trying a few calculated big shots very early, as Artur was knocked over against Page...of course it might have been a balance thing, but there might be a weakness there

When i say not all that .i am comparing him to the best in that divsion sounds worst in words. I mean don't rate in the top 5 in the weight. I don't think he moves that well .can be hit.he has good hands .and power which makes him dangerous. Like I said sounds worst in writing

I see what you're saying.
Like with footballers,"he's shit, can't pass, can't shoot, slow - just a dogshit player" when the guy's had, like, 200 starts for Man U !
I agree with "wide open" - but that's kinda, 'just his style'. I reckon a lot of the Russians Am stars looked @ GGG making the big ££$$ by being exciting and decided to become 'seek-and-destroy' KO artists. You just don't blast thru' everyone without, well, leaving yourself wide open for a start.

this fight pretty well captured berts strengths and weaknesses

very good power, on pretty much every shots. he had johnson hurt repeatedly, even with very short punches that hardly travelled any length. uppercuts, hooks, crosses, they were all hard. he very quickly had johnsons face a mess too

on the other hand, my god, is ever sloppy when he goes in for a kill. hed drop both hands and leave himself wide open, and vs a guy that was throwing some big shots when hurt it got him dropped in the second.

good effort johnson, painful night for him but he put the beast down and made a very fun fight

bertebiev has the power to hurt anyone and is fun as hell to watch, but cant help but feel he wont last many fights vs top level before getting knocked out. simply leaves himself too open and doesnt seem to be able to show restraint long enough to hold himself back from his wild and open attacks

He is an absolute beast, but absolutely beatable - probably my favourite fighter to watch right now. He's never gonna be in a Catteral vs Davies type snoozer is he !?
I reckon Anthony Yarde may well be the one to take him out. He's got LOADS to prove before he even get his shot, but a smooth counter-punching banger like him would be just the style I'd pick.. :box:

Damn Callum should have jumped on the beast after that knockdown, his only chance really, because he looked massively outgunned up to then. I thought his chin might be ABs weakness and surprising the BT commentary didn’t realise he’d been put over before,

Great effort by Callum he showed real balls.

i think callums only real chance was to trade with him and hope to catch him again while hes open, problem with that is that beterbiev shook callum with almost everything he landed so it was always a massively high risk and painful approach

it was kinda like callum was facing a fighter a bit similar in style to himself (will let the power shots fly), but with much more power

i did think after getting dropped bert tightened up and smarted up a bit though

Catching up in the us fights, been up since 4 watching UFC,

Callum shown serious balls can't fault his effort he couldn't do more. Many people including Anthiny Yarde ducked this fight.

Still think Beterbiev is a bit suspect the in activity is going to catch up with him.

I'm desperate to see him fight the best at this weight.
