BBBofC 2018 Boxer of the Year: Josh Taylor
Why would they announce this in September? There are still months of great fights coming up.

I thought so.

Joshua should be British fighter of the year. He unified 3 belts and managed to KO Povetkin. Probably Bellew's possible win over Usyk will sound like a bigger achievement, but the thing is this win is not so possible.

Congratulations to Taylor. Looking forward to seeing him in November.

What tosser came up with the idea of a boxing season?
Boxing has absolutely no need for seasons.

Anthony Joshua deserves this award far more than Josh Taylor.

I don't knock Josh for winning. It just seems unusual.
He was taken to school in his biggest fight for 2/5ths of it, dosent have a championship belt, and in my estiamte, is still on the infancy of his career. Next year if he wins the WBSS are they going to give it to him again?
I agree that Joshua's year was bigger as far as high level world achievement goes, and for his invigoration of the sport.
Taylor has an odd position of being ranked #1 by boxrec and no belt.
