Jessie Vargas vs Thomas Dulorme

Post by handsofstone »

Fast Eddie puts on his first US card this weekend and this is the bill topper, I would've preferred one of the world title fights to headline but that's because I'm a traditionalist, its a decent fight I suppose, not as good as the title fights but could be fun, Dulorme can be dangerous but he's vulnerable as fvxk, especially when he steps up, Crawford done him comfortably in his first fight at 140 and I remember him losing a dingdong with Ugas on the Mayweather/McGregor card last year

Vargas coming off the draw with Broner, it was a good fight and I agreed with the draw, I do feel Broner let that one slip though, still credit to Vargas he worked for it and wanted it more, I think Vargas wins this comfortably, he's not a banger but he might stop Dulorme late on

Vargas is a bigger name than the world title fights, but I understand. I prefer world title fights to go on last. Vargas is the name in the States, not the other 4.

I had Dulorme winning that 115-112 but a draw isn't the worst result ive seen, there were plenty of swing rounds that could've gone either way, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, I thought Dulorme fought as well as ive seen him. fast, sharp and kept himself compact for the most part and wasn't as wreckless as he has been, landed some crisp jabs to the body and his speed troubled Vargas

I thought Vargas's shots looked the more hurtful though and registered on Dulorme more than vice versa, I thought Vargas was outworked in a lot of the rounds, he upped the tempo in the second half of the fight, put Dulorme down with a textbook right hand and was finishing well until getting put down in the 12h with the same shot

I have a wonderful tendancy to disagree with Matthew Macklin on scoring rounds though but I do agree it was a high level fight and entertaining to watch

Going off the back of that showing I wouldn't mind seeing Dulorme back down to Super Lightweight

Just watched it.

Much better fight than I thought it would be. Vargas was pretty poor though. It seems the Broner fight took something out of him because that was a fairly gruelling fight. I would be against a rematch of that.

Not sure where he goes from here.
