Anthony Dirrell vs. Avni Yildirim - February 23, 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The World Boxing Council Ratings Committee has already revealed its monthly lists during the fifty sixth annual WBC Convention. The super middleweight division was reshaped again after David Benavidez’s VADA testing failure.

Benavidez, who holds the WBC super middleweight belt, came up positive for cocaine in connection to a random drug test administered by VADA [Voluntary Anti-Doping Association] on August 27th.

The random test was given to Benavidez as part of his enrollment in the World Boxing Council's Clean Boxing Program.

The WBC has decided to make Benavidez the "champion in recess" and vacated the normal belt.
Anthony Dirrell took the first position in WBC rankings and Turkish Avni Yildirim became the second ranked boxer in the list.

Yildirim’s promoter Ahmet Oner gave a convincing speech about his fighter’s activity and his position in WBC.

“After this situation on what happened to Benavidez, Anthony Dirrell and Avni Yildirim can fight each other for the vacant title and then winner can fight also whoever WBC orders,” said Oner.

The WBC President stated that “the championship is in recess, Dirrell and second place holder Avni Yildirim can fight and we will see Benavidez’s situation later and also we have a Diamond champion Callum Smith. I'd like to say Dirrell and Yildirim can fight for WBC championship which is recess, Benavidez will have rights too.”

If Yildirim will fight with Dirrell for the WBC belt, Yildirim will be the first Turkish fighter who will fight for the world championship in history.

Dirrell is the former WBC super middleweight title holder, and he he lost his belt in a close decision to Badou Jack.

So it seems that Mauricio Sulaiman's feelings mean far more to him than objectively evaluating a fighter's rating based on talent, form, resume and accomplishments?

A lot of fighter's get treated like sh¡t by the WBC. He'll get no sympathy from me.

Neither one should be fighting for a title.

Will be one proper fuckfest. Be prepared for a new pinacle of blatantly obvious corruption. Yildirim's promotion will do everything by any means necessary to get that strap and i mean anything by any means necessary. dirrell should come with a shitload of vaseline in his luggage & apply it heftily before the bell rings! I'm not joking. Based on Yildirim's skillset and ahmet öner being his promoter i expect nothing less than a disqualification of dirrell for holding as soon as the 2 fighters clinch up more than let's say... 6 times. They will put it on him! Still not joking! They will fornicate dirrell over no matter what no matter how! If he doesn't knock yildirim out in the first three rounds, he's fucked for sure! Looking forward to it!

I wouldn't be surprised if Dirrell takes a decision, but I think he could stop this guy if he goes for it.

Dirrell is boring as hell to watch unless he's fighting someone that will bring out the fight in him (i.e. his fights with Sakio Bika). I'm expecting a snoozer. Wide Dirrell win most likely. Yildrim is godawful, and I can't believe he's fighting for a world title.

I thought Eubank Jr. was going to be fighting DeGale anyways. What happened to that fight?

Sorry man, I watched it but didn't think anybody needed the RBR. Better fight than I expected and pretty close. I give the slight edge to Yildrim. A little controversy already, fight has been stopped on a cut, which doesn't look terrible. At first they called it on a cut, then changed it to a headbutt

I could see a draw or either man edging it close, so can't complain. The one card seemed a little too wide.
