Victor Ortiz Pleads Not Guilty To Sexual Assault Charges

Earlier today, Ortiz appeared in Ventura County Superior Court to be arraigned on multiple charges related to the incident.

The arrest came several days before a planned fight with John Molina, which was scheduled to headline a Premier Boxing Champions card in Ontario, California, and televised by Fox Sports 1.

The fight was called off.

According to TMZ Sports, Ortiz pled not guilty to 3 felony sexual assault charges- including forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and forcible digital penetration for an alleged incident that went down in an Oxnard, CA home on March 19.

During Wednesday's hearing, the judge revoked Ortiz's probation stemming from a 2016 DUI case -- which means, in theory, he could be thrown in jail for that.

That matter will be addressed at a hearing in December -- when Ortiz is due back in court for his rape case.

Outside the courtroom Wednesday, Ortiz didn't say a single word to reporters -- but laughed and joked with his legal team as he walked to his car.

If convicted on all counts, Ortiz faces at least 3 years in prison -- and possibly MUCH more.

one thing, he keeps getting in trouble with the law for various reasons, im guessing its not just all a conspiracy to get him

he always seemed like a weirdo to me, throwing a blantant, full force flush headbutt on mayweather, then wanting to cuddle and make out with him right after was bizarre. after getting counted out he immediately got up and started grinning like a tool

Former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz is officially in the clear with respect to criminal charges stemming from a sexual assault case, according to a report by TMZ.

In 2018, the 33-year-old Ortiz was alleged to have raped a woman at a residence in Oxnard, California.

After the allegations were made, Ortiz was hit with three felony charges - including forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and forcible digital penetration.

Ortiz was facing a lengthy prison sentence if convicted and spent the last two years fighting the charges in court.

The case was formally dismissed at a court hearing on Monday -- and according to court records obtained by TMZ, prosecutors say they simply could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Ortiz issued a statement in the aftermath.

"Although I was confident this would be the result, this still has been a terrible and unimaginable ordeal that I am relieved to put behind me," Ortiz stated.

"With this case no longer my focus, I look forward to picking up and advancing my boxing and entertainment careers. I can’t wait to get back in the gym. I also look forward to spending my time with my two young children, my family and loyal friends without the weight of these charges hanging over me and my loved ones."

Ortiz was scheduled to face John Molina in September 2018 - but the contest was dropped after he was arrested for sexual assault.

With a record of 32-6-3, Ortiz has been out of the ring since going to a draw with Devon Alexander in February 2018.
