Mickey - don’t call me son and please don’t try and talk down to me. I’ve followed boxing and boxed myself for enough years to know enough about boxing.mickey1975 wrote: ↑10 Oct 2018, 12:20Never mind, son. Come back when you actually know anything about boxing.
If Mickey’s refusing to answer my question - could someone else please enlighten me re: who Geovontra is?
The only boxer I can think of close is Gervonta Davis?!

Re: Tyson Fury Reveals E-Mail from Eddie Hearn!!
Didn't Davis lose a handful out of a couple of hundred amateur fights? Plus, while he looks the business, he hasn't exactly faced a murderer's row of talent at championship level. How would the number of fights he took to win a WT reflect on anything Joshua has done?
Re: Tyson Fury Reveals E-Mail from Eddie Hearn!!
There may be something im missing here - has he revealed how much Fight 2 was worth? Bearing in mind Fight 1 with Hearn being worth 3m.

Re: Tyson Fury Reveals E-Mail from Eddie Hearn!!
Comparing Fury and Joshua in terms of experience isn’t easy.
Fury was a pro at the same time Joshua first put a pair of gloves on apparently. They are a similar age but Fury’s been in the game longer no doubt.
I predict they’ll also peak at different stages too. Given his ethnicity ( travellers tend to age a lot faster generally speaking ) and issues, it’s quite likely Fury’s prime has been and gone. Joshua seems to be getting more confident and authoritative as he goes along. It’s quite likely he’s prime is to come.

a munchkin who started boxing at 10 and had 200+ amateur fights, totally different from fury and aj

I thought he looked very hesitant against Parker and uncomfortable against POV until the end. Looked much more authoritative against Charles Martin when he won his ‘title’.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2018, 16:12 Comparing Fury and Joshua in terms of experience isn’t easy.

So you mean to say that the better fighters asked more questions of him? Wow, whodathunkit?
Re: Tyson Fury Reveals E-Mail from Eddie Hearn!!
You can't even be constructively critical of Joshua on here any more. It just gets shut down every time.
Re: Tyson Fury Reveals E-Mail from Eddie Hearn!!
nah thats just you seeing one side mate, there has been plenty of good discussions , and there are biased posters both for and against joshua. there are also ppl who repeatedly moan about how everyone is pro-aj when that type of suggestion is simply reflective of there own bias and over sensitivity to people arguing in his favour
aj didnt really even get brought up until mickey took a bit of a dig at him going into the third page (not sure how it was 'constructive'), and then the discussion from there ppl raise legit points about how joshua has not had an easy route as mickey hinted at , or a less ambitious route so far then fury. and again with the amateur comparisons, its a 2 way disucssion with fair points being raised , and again it was someone critivizing aj who brought the ams up too. should ppl not say anything if they disagree?
seems like you might classify disagreement with this 'constructive critiicsm' as 'shutting down' when its simply a response. tell me mate, what is so unreasonable about the counter points people made?

It wasn't your posts on the amateur debate that I was referring to. In fact the constructive debate about their respective amateur experience is pretty rare around here. The normal discussions relating to Fury, Wilder and Joshua are pretty dire in the main.
As you were! Cheers

I don’t think I’m clever at all. I KNOW my boxing knowledge is way in front of yours, though.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑15 Oct 2018, 07:20Lol is he going up to Heavyweight or something? Mikey think he's so cleaver but he makes less sense than some of the worst trolls on here

Boxing knowledge does not compensate for lack of objectivity.
Re: Tyson Fury Reveals E-Mail from Eddie Hearn!!
Does'nt matter what you think of any boxer , To start at a late age , have a handful of ameteur fights win an olympic medal , become world champion , sell out Wembley , is absolutly AWSOME , and he's getting better , some may say he's not but he is , His opponents are getting harder and he's handling them , personaly i see him getting looser less Bruno type and getting a better boxing brain ,

Povetkin was always likely to pose problems, he's not exactly a bum is he - however, Joshua knocked him into the middle of next week, so in the end, it was a pretty easy win.
I think Joshua's achilles heel will actually be lighter more mobile heavies with decent footwork and a dig.

I think Joshua just gave Parker too much respect because it was a unification and overestimated how good he was. If it had been a regular defence, I reckon Joshua would have stopped him.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑15 Oct 2018, 14:14The parker fight was a strange one to be sure.mickey1975 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2018, 03:01I thought he looked very hesitant against Parker and uncomfortable against POV until the end. I also think he really focused on pacing himself against Parker. He gassed against Klitschko when he went for the finish in round 5 and despite him beating Takam in the 11th it had seemed as though he was slowing down in rounds 8 and 9.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑15 Oct 2018, 14:36I think Joshua just gave Parker too much respect because it was a unification and overestimated how good he was. For me there was nothing wrong with the performance - controlled throughout without ever really going for the KO. I had him losing 2-3 rounds but that was about it.
Against Povetkin I thought he started slowly and he didn’t appear switched on. I think Povetkin probably surprised him (and a lot of us) with how quick he still was.
I thought AJ was jabbing and working the body quite well from the 3rd onwards although Povetkin was landing the more eye catching shots albeit infrequently. As soon Povetkin started to slow a bit and AJ increased the pace a little it was a near perfect finish.
