Seem to remember Ritson saying he wouldn't fight Burns out of respect as Burns was like a mentor to him when he was coming through
UK TO US TO UK TO US! busy man!

Why do you like the Patera fight out of curiosity? Ritson is 1/100 at a lot of bookies and you can get up to 25/1 for Patera to win. The Italian has had 7 KO wins in his 22 fights so clearly has very little power and if it did go the distance and was reasonably close then he'll obviously not get the decision, just like the Dodd fight 2 years ago, so he basically has no chance of winning. It's just set up for a flash KO, a belt grab and for the hype to continue. Bar that Foot fight, it's a very poor show.maverick23 wrote: ↑08 Oct 2018, 05:52 I like this fight and I really like the Davies Jr fight but there are plenty TBAs on there.
I don’t see why Buatsi couldn’t have a meaningful fight on this show.

patera i think should be easy work. its true he was ebu champ but he also got pretty much shutout in that rematch and also lost to sean dodd.
its a logical next step for ritson to the ebu scene but i think he still wins easily. its another guy without power who i imagine will struggle to hold him off for long.

The reason I kind of like the Patera fight is for a couple of reasons. Firstly I like the traditional route of British and then moving on to European. Secondly whilst I think Ritson will win I don’t mind Patera as an opponent. I actually had him beating Dodd when they fought, he beat Tatli (although lost the rematch) and I think he’s quite a tricky fighter. I’m hoping it will give Ritson rounds and I don’t think Patera will be as aggressive as some of Ritson’s recent opponents.
It’s just been announced that Buatsi will be fighting Tony Averlant (the guy who lost Yarde in Yarde’s last fight). Not awful for an 8th fight but I would rather Buatsi was in with people who are trying to win - like the way Okolie has been matched.

Get Yvan Mendy in with Ritson: that will be a good step up for him.

Agreed - would be an excellent first defence of the title.black panther wrote: ↑09 Oct 2018, 02:59 Get Yvan Mendy in with Ritson: that will be a good step up for him.

Hope this is the start of a step up for Buatsi. They'll use Averlant as a measuring stick to see where he is in comparison with Yarde. If he beats him in similar or even better fashion then he's clearly ready to be moved along at a decent pace. Think Eddie could push Johnson to the European title, leaving the British and Commonwealth vacant for Buatsi/Buglioni/Burton etc.

Have to agree mate. Strange as I actually believe he could go the furthest of all the British Olympians from 2016. By the sounds of things Hearn will be doing a show in London in December, hopefully he'll be in a competitive fight on that bill.Stuarty wrote: ↑09 Oct 2018, 10:22Hearns handling of Buatsi has been pisspoorElJefe wrote: ↑09 Oct 2018, 09:01 Hope this is the start of a step up for Buatsi. Also, anyone know why Josh Kelly isn't on this show? Hasn't boxed since June. Injury?

Good solid step up for Ritson and great to see him go for the European title, I only remember Patera for giving Dodd a rough night, I never realised he was a former Euro champ with a win and loss against Tatli, never knew he lost to Mendy either, I think Ritson might be in for a long night here, Patera looks durable, Ritson never been the hardest to hit but he's been walking through whatevers been thrown at him, if he cant blow away Patera he could find himself needing to stand up to some replies for a change
Patera may be durable but I wouldn't rule out Ritson creasing him with a bodyshot

Re: Lewis Ritson vs. Francesco Patera - 13 October 2018
Yeah, that's fair enough. You can't really grumble at a Euro title fight and if that's who the opponent next in line was, then so be it. I know Sky's strategy and direction has completely changed these days with their 6+ annual PPVs and their regular content is therefore going to take a hit, but the thing that annoys me most is less than 2 years ago in a similar sized arena (Echo) on normal Sky - you had Bellew defending a world title, supported by Campbell vs Matthews which was built up well and Ryan Burnett defending his British title against a home favourite and then Dodd-Patera as the 4th fight. Just hard to believe that this type of show is now generally accepted. It would have been a lot better had Patera been a bit better and had a bit more power as it's never nice to see a fighter 1/100 in the main event as Ritson is with the likes of 888 Sport, 10Bet and Unibet especially when the undercard is very modest bar one fight.maverick23 wrote: ↑09 Oct 2018, 00:05I agree it’s a poor show.Paullow wrote: ↑08 Oct 2018, 17:45Why do you like the Patera fight out of curiosity? What`s up with Ritson`s skin in that weigh-in pic ? The mottled skin around his trunk, specifically.
And it`s nice to see BJS still involved in the sport, far left in that pic

Was waiting until Nov/Dec as his baby was due - he’ll fight Bellew Card , then maybe US and then Feb was plan Hearn said.ElJefe wrote: ↑09 Oct 2018, 13:34Have to agree mate.
