I think Norton is by far the more proven quality fighter. Although some might be inclined to go with Merritt based on the fact that he was a huge puncher & big punchers could give Norton trouble but not me. Because Merritt was also vulnerable to being KOd himself as evidenced by his early knock out defeats to non-punchers Henry Clark & Stan Ward. So, I'd choose Norton to get to Merritt somewhere around rounds 3-5.
