Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
Re: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
i dont see at all what beating burton would do, as i say again and again, burtons never won above english level and got ktfo the one time he stepped above that. you think yardes been fighting cans, look at burtons wins. and being british doesnt make automatically make you better then international fighters
yarde beats him, and so what? yardes already beaten a guy who drew for the 175 euro title one fight before vs stieglitz. yardes already beaten guys with wins at least as good as beating miles shinkwin. liam conroy would be as good a win as burton on recent form
this fight is lame but its not guys like burton yarde should be looking to, its guys more like egor mikhalkin, dominic bosel, karo murat, etc. euro level guys whove all held the euro title .

Yarde’s already skipped the British scene. The win over Skjecola was good.

Not the most excited I've been for a fight, as others have said, he's moving too slowly. Or rather he is being moved too slowly.
Re: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
maybe they are trying to sit on that wbo ranking in hope the belt gets vacated and they can fight a weak opponent for the title
the champs at lhw are pretty good right now. alvarez, bivol, stevenson, beterbiev.. theres no real obvious weak link. maybe beterbiev is open, but he also is a scary guy to fight who can really hurt you.
tbf, yardes only been pro 3 year, not very long, esp for a guy with 12-13 amateur fights. you have some really rapid rises, but very few move much faster then yarde has. problem is more that hes been sitting at the same level for the last few fights.

Boring opponent. Yarde might be the goods but the matchmaking begs the question - are they protecting him for a reason? Sjekloca was a good win but this will be his 3rd fight since then and all 3 opponents are worse than Sjekloca.
First thing he said in his last IFL interview was "he's ranked higher than all British light heavyweights apart from Callum Johnson." That would be a fair comment if 1) world rankings were a genuine reflection of ability and 2) he planned on using his world ranking to fight for a world title.
No point banging on about world rankings if you turn down world title fights.

It's not that, it's more about what we want as fans for a British prospect. They should win the Lonsdale outright in fun fights, THEN sail off on to the Euro/Word scene a complete 12 round fighter.jamamb wrote: ↑30 Sep 2018, 17:03 i think some of the guys he fought are just as good if not better then the likes of buglioni, burton, ball etc....they just werent british
a guy like burton has never won above miles shinkwin level, so i dont really knock yarde for fighting other guys instead, like a guy who had drawn for the 175 ebu right before

WBO are the ones who have ranked him so high because they work for FW.
Re: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
He's been fighting people that couldlnt knock the skin off a bowl of custard that's why
Re: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
I don't see that changing unless he's taking proper fights. How much is he really going to learn/improve while knocking over these opponents?

Don’t think you can blame the promoter here. They’re ranked Number 2 when arguably they don’t want to be.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 10:57WBO are the ones who have ranked him so high because they work for FW.
He’s never beaten anyone in their top 15 so no business being ranked 2.
Re: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
Apologies if it's been mentioned already but why is this fight at Brentwood? Unfortunately I'm away anyway but got an interest in the card due to Johnny Garton who shifts good numbers of tickets and with yarde also as far as I'm aware being London as well I know Brentwood ain't a million miles away but don't understand the reasoning unless there is a local ticket seller on the undercards which I haven't looked at that closely
Re: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
Until Yarde steps up it’s a waste of time.

I'm not complaining, only up the road from me.mfc_se15 wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 14:20 Apologies if it's been mentioned already but why is this fight at Brentwood? Anyone else going?
