This sort of post really fcks me off tbh. Did you actually bother to read the rest of the thread before you wrote something so stupid?

I'd say that he's on around 80-150k per fight... Isn't that the norm for the British level?

I remember Deeck Chisora was offered 250 grand to fight AJ when he was British Heavyweight Champion, but they always seem to pay over-the-odds for AJ's opponents.

I remember reading something that Matt Legg said (an early AJ opponent on the Froch/Groves II undercard... He said that he was able to "pay out" the rest of his mortgage with the money he was offered for the AJ bout.

The Appleby figure is correct.
Hayemaker paid it, when they where paying big money for everything.
They thought Appleby was going to be a superstar.
It was a British title fight.

Allen's the first to admit he's boxed for peanuts before, the Ortiz fight being case in point but he says he's much wiser now and is baffled on how naïve he was in taking fights earlier in his career, he says Eddie offered him 100k I think it was to fight Kuzmin recently or less money for an easier fight and he ended up taking the easier option in Nebo

Alright mate calm down. I did read the post and I actually follow Dave on twitter so I've seen that as well. I only posted it because I heard him talking about paying of his mortgage in a video. In future I won't post without evidence.

He was paid less than £10k to fight Ortiz apparently,

I’m all for fighters earning well but Allen is already earning more money than some who have far more talent, ability and application.

He should be getting decent money but I’ve no idea how he manages to have the likes of even Lucas Browne discussing him as an opponent.

Browne just fought Julius Long and is now fighting some Samoan bloke called Junior Pati with a 12-22 record.

The only thing strange if Allen should be his opponent afterwards, would be that it's such a big step up for Browne.

What I meant is, it’s strange to hear Browne, who has achieved a fair bit, calling out Dave Allen, who hasn’t really beaten anyone. His best result is a draw with Thomas, who Joyce destroyed 5 minutes in to his pro career!

dave allen is probably an english level fighter in terms of where he can actually win. he does have a freak chin though and hence has given some rounds to even top 5 world ranked (or about that) fighters. he is defo punching way above his weight in terms of the promotional support he gets relative to his accomplishments and abiltiy.

maybe more fighters should study his approach/personality rather then going with the overdone BEEEEEEEEEEEEEF/sh!t talking angle

i guess going with 'beef' is just so easy though. any idiot can blab

Browne didn’t call him out.
Dave Allen said ‘how about it?’ And Browne said ‘yeah okay mate’.

Fair play to Allen - he is getting opportunities and publicity far beyond his talent.

I think he needs to reign it in though - he is starting to get a bit giddy.

The next time he faces somebody of English level or above he is getting beat.

When he realises that he isn't going to win a title he will cash in, he will end up losing his final 10 fights. The problem will be that he likes to have this macho image of being able to take a shot etc, which wont do him any favours.

I would be surprised if he doesn't pick up a title belt of some description.

I tend to agree - he is after being gifted the Commonwealth title.

He has become popular on Twitter, but I am not sure how that translates to ticket sales etc.?

His dad was a good fighter, although it is hard to connect father and son because the original Dave Allen was only a light-welterweight and a tense, bitter fellow who I once saw trounce Lloyd Christie at the National Sporting Club and who subsequently earned a two-page feature in Boxing News in which he bemoaned the lack of opportunities for fighters in the North.

I said something similar on this thread or maybe another. He is a likeable enough young man but so far he has been ‘the opponent’ or a supporting act for a bigger show rather than someone who is shifting tickets. His last contest where ticket sales might have mattered was at Walsall Town Hall on the undercard of Langford v Welborn which I believe only holds 900 for boxing anyway.
