K. Pulev vs. H. Fury

Post by Ilya Muromets »

This has to be the all time world's record for most translators at a boxing press conference!

Off topic, but Beterbiev's translator was the best one I've ever seen in my life. By far. He didn't understand a single word in English

Considering the intellectual content of these boxing "pressers" it's just as well.

Not much interest in this fight here, huh? I hate to say this, but my man hasn't fought in a year and a half so...no i can't say it. But how can one keep in top form if one doesn't practice one's craft?

I still think if Pulev is even 70% of his peak he beats Hughie. I'm just not impressed with Him at all

Same here, not so impressed with Hughie, and of course I'm rooting for my paisan, but how can so many boxers fight so infrequently nowadays? Boxers peak years, like a pretty girl's, have a limited shelf life. By the way, anybody know a good place to see it? DAZN doesn't seem to be carrying it.

I root for Pulev but i doubt he is willing to fight top fighters even after this fight.

Adamek was offered before he signed his Miller fight by Pulev camp a two fights deal to fight on Pulev vs Hughie undercard vs anyone he wants to and then again in Bulgaria vs Pulev.

The deal was:
-250.000$ for co-maim event on Pulev vs Hughie undercard
-500.000$ for fighting Pulev

Sounds like pretty good deal for Adamek. Do you happen to know how much he got paid to be hit the by the tank know as Miller?

It was the biggest payday since Klitschko fight for Adamek. It was +300.000$. Of course the purse of 10.000.000zł (3.300.000-3.500.000$) for Vit was unbeatable but For Szpilka he earned 250.000$ so he got more for fighting Miller.

Pulev's offer was fantastic, maybe they planned PPV in both Poland and Bulgaria.

Adamek's promoter is Mateusz Borek - a guu that is a football and boxing commentator and expert in big television in Poland, almost as famous in Poland as Adamek is - and he became boxing promoter to "resurrect" Adamek career. But he also promoted some very good local cards and still does (some of them in PPV). Adamek vs Abell and Masternak vs Kalenga was a really good card for Polish standards.

Borek and Adamek are just good friends, looking at events Borek makes in Poland it seems that it's not about money (especially when boxing is clearly far for being the main source of money for him).

Borek had 3 offers for Adamek:
-The Pulev's Bulgarian deal for fantastic money.
-Miller fight for less money but still very good money
-Fight this November in Radom, Poland against the Haumono-Kassi-Abell type of opponent for purse lower than for both Pulev and Miller (still not too bad though)

And he just asked Adamek to choose one, so Adamek said that he is already old and if he wants to try to compete at the highest level once again it must be now, there is no time for the Pulev deal he said so he choosed the Miller offer. Adamek Borek and trainer Gus Curren all of them believed that it makes sense so they made the deal with Hearn.

If it was about money they could make another 5 PPVs in Poland vs beatable opponents like Haumono Kassi and Abell.

Hughie can beat him but he needs to go against his natural instinct to fiddle, not be overly cautious and negative.

Can he do that? Not so sure. He looks to nick fights/rounds. Never a good approach when you’re not a major player or bring big dough.

They both are tactical and rational competitors. The fight will most likely become first of all a jabbing contest and the winner of it will get more chances to develop the success. Some time ago I'd have picked Pulev, but he is aging and had long time off, he can appear to be rusty, if not significantly declined. Fury is a growing boxer, he has shown some progress. I'm picking Fury to take a moderately wide decision, which will be possibly closer due to probable hometown help for Pulev.

This is the shape and condition of Kubrat for this match...Never saw him so define!

Image

You can see how serious he is for this bout and how much he trained. His goal is Joshua. Fury is a serious opponent, but he does not have any chance against Kubrat.

A 37½ year old that has been inactive for the last 18 months, due to injury, is going to need to be in the shape of his life against a slightly taller, active, highly-skilled and mobile world-class opponent that is more than thirteen years his junior.

I would have favoured a prime version of Kubrat Pulev to have scored a clear-cut decision victory against the current version of Hughie Fury, especially considering the fact that he's competing on home turf, but I feel that Bulgarian is going to have his work cut out for him this weekend.

I respect your opinion. I just don't see Hughie as a top contender.
But we will see. If he legitimately beats Pulev ill give him credit
