Prime James J. Jeffries?

Post by NYDominican »

A prime James J. Jeffries against a prime Jack Dempsey.

What advantages would James have over Jack?

What advantages would Dempsey have over Jeffries?

What do you see happening in this fight?

Who would win? Why?

Please explain.

Ideally we should see more video material of Jeffries. Anyway Dempsey seemed to be too special in the offence for those times. He could have crushed anybody then. His conqueror is only seen with Tunney's style and skills, but there was only one Gene Tunney.

Dempsey early or Jeffries late.

There's a case that Bob Fitzsimmons hit harder than Dempsey, in which case, you'd have to favour Jeffries to wear him down.

It would have a very tough fight. Dempsey was overall a slightly better fighter. Jeffries could take an awful lot of punishment. There are many different scenarios which could occur. It's possible that the fight could end early or in the middle rounds, but unlikely. This might actually depend on how many rounds the fight was scheduled for. Jeffries had exceptional stamina. If it was for 20-25 rounds Jeffries would have a better chance.
