Agit Kabayel vs. Otto Wallin - Postponed

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

EBU heavyweight champ Agit Kabayel will not be making the voluntary defence of the title that was planned for some time. Instead he is ordered by the EBU to move on to the mandatory defence against Swedish challenger Otto Wallin.

The EBU have set November 13 as deadline for purse bids.

Kabayel, 21-2, promoted by SES, won the title in 2017 with a points win over Herve Hubeaux and have defended it twice with an upset win over Dereck Chisora and a stoppage against Milos Rovjanin.

Wallin, 20-0, won the vacant EU title in April and later relinquished it and then parted ways with Team Sauerland, his promoter for his entire career. He is now a freelancer.

Yeh, it’s pretty messed up. Some say he has 2 losses, some say undefeated.

He fought in some of the Bigger's Better tournaments, which boxrec doesn't count as professional boxing.

He lost to Fabrice Aurieng and Evgeny Orlov.

Thank you :TU: I was just going off of Boxrec.
I was unaware of any tournaments he took place in as a pro

I was completely unaware of this. Did you know if he look bad against them? Or what his pro record when this to place? And what was the format?

Ah ok. He's probably lucky as losses on your record means quite a lot these days.

I fancy him in this matchup. The winner will surely be in line for an eliminator in 2019 as they both have pretty decent rankings and most of those above them will have had their shots by then.

They were 3 round tournaments fought all in one night. I really can’t remember the year but I think it was 2012/2013 or so. He went 3-2 in the tourneys. I really don’t think the results mattered at all—it’s not a format he will ever find himself in again.

EBU heavyweight champ Agit Kabayel, 21-2 (including the Bigger is Better tournament fights), will defend the title against mandatory challenger Otto Wallin, 20-0, from Sweden, on February 3 or 23 in Germany with SES promoting.

There was purse bids set for tomorrow but the parties came to an agreement today.

Wallin is now a freelancer but was previously with Team Sauerland. His last fight was in April when he beat Adrian Granat and won the vacant EU title.

Hopefully they fight before the summer and the winner should be around eliminator status by early 2020. Whether they can win that fight it is a different question.
