Eddie Hearn
Love him or hate him, he's doing things no other British boxing promoter has ever done. More and more signings being announced all the time. He has a show pretty much every week. Fair play to him.
Re: Eddie Hearn
who did he sign now? would be interested in seeing his full roster
hes obviously an excellent promoter
hes obviously an excellent promoter
Re: Eddie Hearn
Generally like him , but don't agree with the amount of ppvs he's serving up .
The booing thing at big events is feckin ace though and I think even a big ego like him sees the funny side.
Where would British boxing be without his input ?
In a poorer state I reckon .

Re: Eddie Hearn
Twitters hilarious, 90% of it is people slating Eddie and tweeting about Matchroom fanboys etc as if they(the tweeter) are in the small minority of people who criticise Hearn when really pretty much all your prolific boxing tweeters are anti-Hearn, some of them were fuckin gutted when the Canelo/Fielding fight was made and even more so when Canelo signed with DAZN
When they realised Eddie might not be involved with his signing and even may be getting ousted already or that DAZN were taking Eddie's proposed cash out of his kitty they were fuckin delirious with excitement
Turns out their back to being gutted as Canelo's multi million pound deal and has eff all to do with Ed's funds
I'm not saying he's without fault but he's far better than these other promoters who put on 6 shows a year, Eddie has 52 shows lined up in 12 months
If you're a boxer who wants to be active why the hell would you sign for Al Haymon??
I doubt there's a single promoter who would be able to cope with what Matchroom have got coming up, Bob and Fwank are dinosaurs and Oscar is a freakshow, fair play to Fast Ed he seems to be relishing the task

Re: Eddie Hearn
I never used to mind that Ultratech Raw boxing chat on youtube its pretty funny but more and more lately he's just obsessed with Hearn's DAZN deal flopping, constantly tweeting about viewing figures, why no big names had signed, slating Vargas?Dulorme etc, its relentless and creepy as fvck why would a so called boxing fan be willing for a potentially game changing move to fail, all the while sucking on Uncle Al's shlong?
Ed's been in the US market 5 minutes, it doesn't take Einstein to work out it'll take time, if anyone has the schtick, bluster and work ethic to pull it off then its Hearn, now Canelo's signed I imagine all the other top level fighters and big names now want to take the plunge with DAZN

Re: Eddie Hearn
Not really sure what's to applaud. Looks like a case of mostly being in the right place at the right time. When Sky made him the chosen one they pretty much either effectively killed off his UK competition (Maloney, Hennessy, Hatton) or put them firmly in his shade (allegedly.)

Ultra is quality IMO, his intros are amazing, especially the Eubank one and the new Hearn one. yeah he is a bit obsessed with Hearn but the guy is a bit of a tool and he needs a bit of opposition from the copious amounts of cock riders he has out there. That said if I was a boxer I'd probably sign with Hearn.handsofstone wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 19:05 I never used to mind that Ultratech Raw boxing chat on youtube its pretty funny but more and more lately he's just obsessed with Hearn's DAZN deal flopping, constantly tweeting about viewing figures, why no big names had signed, slating Vargas?Dulorme etc, its relentless and creepy as fvck why would a so called boxing fan be willing for a potentially game changing move to fail, all the while sucking on Uncle Al's shlong?

Re: Eddie Hearn
Hrs going to be announcing new promotional deals in both Germany and Italy in the next few weeks (8 shows in each) plus I think a further deal in Canada.
50ish shows a year is a hell of a lot! I know they’re able to do with darts but that’s simply just taking the sample bunch of guys to a a new venue each week.
I just get the feeling that they’re potentially spreading themselves too thin. The US deal in only recently signed so why not wait until that’s firing before they look at other territories?!
They’ve got an announcement today about (I believe) at least one new signing and their November 17th Atlantic City show - will be interesting to see who it is.

So he was 'in the right place at the right time' to get the sky deal, 'the right place at the right time' to sign Joshua, 'the right place at the right time' to start Matchroom USA with a Showtime deal and 'the right place at the right time' to sign a huge deal with a brand new streaming service.Cholo_cws wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 19:58 Not really sure what's to applaud. At what point does it stop looking like luck and start looking like smart business?
Gary Liniker was often, 'in the right place at the right time', but that doesn't make his 1986 golden boot any less deserved.

That's what I'm saying though about these supposed "copious amount of cockriders" I follow over 1000 people and only about 20 of them are non boxing and yet the vast majority are people slating Hearn and the supposed casuals, so much to the point where its almost the Hearn haters that come across as casualsNightmare Roy wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 20:35Ultra is quality IMO, his intros are amazing, especially the Eubank one and the new Hearn one. yeah he is a bit obsessed with Hearn but the guy is a bit of a tool and he needs a bit of opposition from the copious amounts of cock riders he has out there. No doubt Eddie landed on his feet with the Sky deal but no one can deny he works hard and looks out for his fighters, he uses social media to the best of his advantage unlike some, if Fwank or Mick got the deal from Sky that Ed got I cant help think boxing in this county would be nowhere near the shape its in now
As for Ultra he's funny but he's coming across as a right Stan these days

Re: Eddie Hearn
I personally like him - I sometimes don't agree about some of the fights he makes as PPV, but without PPV would he be able to make some of the fights he has already? I wouldn't like to think about the state of British boxing without him. If I was a fighter I know who I would want to be my promoter, and I feel that is how many fighters are feeling like at the moment. To be able to watch boxing nearly every weekend is great.
It's good to see someone who can take it and dish it out as well, you don't normally get to see that. He know's full well, when he gets all them boo's at shows, if they had the chance they would take a picture with Eddie

Whats that got to do with anything? If he cant cope with all these BT shows he told us we were getting then maybe he should take a leaf out of Barry's book and hand the reigns over to his son(s)Manchester Hitman wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 21:01Frank is about 70 years old mate - give him a break.jameswilson wrote: ↑18 Oct 2018, 19:59 Kugan - ‘So Frank, run us through your upcoming shows.’

My biggest criticism of Hearn is that he thinks Dillian Whyte is a PPV fighter, that is a scandal, he's never even fought for a world title

Re: Eddie Hearn
Ask yourself why he got the SKY deal. How much of it was Eddie, his then stable and his plans. How much of it was his personality, his youth and his lack of bitterness towards the game? And how much was it about the other promoters out there?
Re: Eddie Hearn
And how much was it because of Sky's links with Matchroom for their darts, snooker, fishing etc. ?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 06:56 Ask yourself why he got the SKY deal. Eddie is doing a good job, but don't kid yourself that Barry (who was fed up with boxing) didn't just give young Edward the boxing side of the business to keep him busy between tanning sessions and he initially had everything handed to him because of his dad's connections - although again, I say that he is making a good job of it.

Look at where Matchroom boxing was then and where it is now. The difference is mostly down to Eddie, not his dad.bripez wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 07:07And how much was it because of Sky's links with Matchroom for their darts, snooker, fishing etc. ?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑19 Oct 2018, 06:56 Ask yourself why he got the SKY deal. Re: Eddie Hearn
I find the constant fascination with promoters incredible. Surely the only real things of consequence to the punter is what fights get made, quality of the shows, the strength of British boxing and its fighters, and the cost and difficulty in getting to see the fights for fans here.
Over the past year, there appears to be the continuing trend of a reducing level of regular high level quality fights in the UK, particularly in terms of what gets put on Sky Sports of a Saturday night. I’m not sure the Matchroom/DAZN link up will help that in any way.
For the last three months of this year we will have probably only three genuine world level fights taking place in the UK. Two of which are definitely PPVs and no word on where the other fight lands.
Frampton/Warrington, Bellew/Usyk, Burnett/Donnaire.
Have I missed anything? Apparently there is to be a show in Sheffield on the 8th which features Kell Brook in a keep busy fight and ‘hopefully’, Dave bloody Allen.
Watching World level boxing increasingly means a return to the days of it only being on in the early hours of the morning, albeit with easier but expensive access to it.

Couldn’t agree more. And for me it’s why boxing in general is in a pretty poor state. Too much emphasis on promotional politics and finding reasons not to make good fights. Too much emphasis on promoters talking crap and not enough on the fights and the fighters.

Barry was fed up with boxing and his son was looking for something to do - its not as if Eddie built this up from the bottom against all the odds.
Somebody mentioned about the deal with Sky - its not as if a small hall promoter rand up the head of Sky Sports! - they were going to look after him and at least give him a chance because of their existing relationship with the rest of Matchroom.

Does Eddie want to be loved by the public? Don’t think he cares as long as businesses is good
