Bradley Skeete Vacates British Title, Corcoran and Garton To Contest
Promoter Franklyn Waren has told Boxing Scene that Bradley Skeete (27-2, 12 KOs) has vacated the British welterweight title.
The vacant 147lbs Lonsdale strap will be contested between Gary Corcoran (18-2, 8 KOs) and Skeete's Peacock Gym mate Johnny Garton (22-1-1, 9 KOs) on October 20 at the Brentwood Centre, Essex as part of a Queensberry promotion.
Skeete became British champion in 2016 beating Sam Eggington on points away from home also giving him Eggington's Commonwealth title in the process.
Three successful defences in a year against John Thain, Shayne Singleton and Dale Evans gave the Londoner the prestigious honour of owning the belt outright. Skeete, however, was unsuccessful when challenging for the vacant European title last time out against Kerman Lejarraga in Bilbao. The heavy handed Spaniard proved too much for the Brit sending his man to the canvas three times before the towel was thrown in. Warren informed 'Scene that Skeete will return to action on the October 20 show, which will be screened live on BT Sport, along with Anthony Yarde with an opponent for the WBO number 2 light heavyweight still to be confirmed.

any word about possible yarde opponents
i think it should be someone who is undoubtly full european level. like maybe igor mikhalkin, rather then more fringe ebu-eu types like the last two

British title = Toss.
It's over. The British title has never meant less.
The BBBofC has run British boxing into the ground.
They should all resign in disgrace.

This fight should be a cracker, could be the best watch of the weekend, I think the styles will gel well, both guys are aggressive and like to have a tear up, Corcoran has bags more experience, fought for a world title and his opponents know they've been in a fight, he was well beat by Horn although I still maintain the stoppage was strange, he's had tough fights with Williams and Ekundayo
Garton's only loss was by stoppage to Eggington in Prizefighter a few years ago, this is only other real name he's fought, I think Corcoran comes out on top of a firefight, whether Garton can last into the second half I'm not sure but I do reckon Corcoran will stop him

Re: Bradley Skeete Vacates British Title, Corcoran and Garton To Contest
What an excellent scrap, I knew it had to be, both guys are pure warriors, part of me thinks the ref jumped in a bit early but really as tough as Corcoran is he was starting to unravel, it was nip/tuck fight for the first 8 rounds or so, I struggled to score it, it ebbed and flowed, Garton picked the better shots but Corcoran looked stronger and marched forward relentlessly, dangerous with the head but its just his style, as bloody as Garton was he never looked sorry for himself and raised his game first time in at the deep end
I thought Corcoran's size and experience would tell down the stretch and in the 8th I thought it was him starting to break Garton down but in the 9th/10th Garton started to break Corcoran down, getting the measure of the left hook especially but also some nice right hands and Corcoran was visably shook a few times, Corcoran we know is as game a fighter you'll see and it probably played into Garton's hands who showed his abilty, really hard accurate shots and Corcoran was one shot away from going
Part of me thinks it looked as if the ref pancked and jumped in as soon as Garton landed that big shot, I thought maybe he could've gave Corcoran a count as the ropes kept him up but I'm maybe just a bit of a sadist, Corcoran was surely getting stopped either way, great fight and Garton looks like he can handle himself, great learning fight, he looks like he can box a bit at this level too, he wont run into another Corcoran anytime soon

A really great fight. Gripping and entertaining. A Classic all-action British title fight.
I was impressed by Garton, strong and heavy handed.
Corcoran is as game as they come. As the commentators said; whatever those two lads got paid, they deserve so much more.
The atmosphere looked good too. Rival fans on their feet cheering, whilst guarded by plenty of security looking like riot police.

Congratulations to Garton. I really didn't think he could win at this level, so fair play to him on a career best win.
