Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
Useless fight that, nothing learned and maybe a higher ranking gained but if he keeps fighting guys like Sequeira then he wont be ready come the step up, I thought Barry Jones was spot on in saying Yarde was quite poor especially in the 2nd round where he shipped far too many shots, he might have felt he could take them easily but its naïve, his shots did looks sharp again though, the chopping right hand for the first KD looked behind the ear, the little short right for the second KD was quality as was the right for the finish, Sequeira's a brave fighter but Yarde's levels above these guys, the WBOs rankings shit as ever

Needs to step up now cant be arsed watching him flatten another cab driver. The card was good overall though.

Well it is W(arren) B(oxing) O(rganisation)..
He so highly ranked at WBO.
But yeh. Those 2 should be next for Yarde next year.
FW said he will fight again in 2018. Maybe the Frampton card or maybe on the Fury card. Who knows. But if it’s the States, he better have a good opponent.

Made up for garton. Never when I saw him early days did I think he would make it to this level. Absolute top lad, always gives absolutely everything.

If yarde and tunde have their way they will keep having fights like that.
Yards has turned down big fights. Never heard him mention callum Johnsons name either.

I watched two rounds and went to bed. The guy was a midget and although was throwing and landing, it was obvious he was far too small and it would soon end.
I like Yarde as a person, really upbeat and positive and a role model for the youth in his area (but please bin that fcking 'Lions in the Camp' chant, sound an utter prick) but as a fighter, I do not know what he has but what I do know is that they are clearly swerving any real challenges
Now if it is because they want him to grow and learn, fair enough as long as he eventually gets there and if they said that I would be fine, but the issue is they say they are better than those guys, dont need them, are fighting higher ranked guys etc. I think a lot of the criticism comes from what they say followed by what they do (or dont do).

yardes been a pro 3 years only , take that in for a moment. i dont know why so many act like hes been moved soooooo slowly and unambitiously.
johnsons been a pro 8 years
buglioni been a pro 7 years
burton been a pro 6 years
liam conroy been a pro 6 years
ricky summers been a pro 6 years
the guys with comparable time pro to yarde are guys like charlie schofeld, nathan thorley, charlie duffield, jake ball, kirk garvey, dec spelman, etc
yarde , because of this alleged slow progess, is become a guy ppl just cant wait to see lose, but its kinda bizarre when your talking about a guy whose only been pro 3 years, and its not like he had a huge amateur career and shouldve been super fast tracked.

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
I don't think it is his pace of development but the fact he is topping saturday night shows. Kind of suggests it should be a top level fight, when we know it isnt even if it is sold as one.
Buatsi would get the same questions if he wasn't 3rd/4th/5th down on the running order.
I guess Fwank hasnt got a good enough stable of fighters to fill his tv slots

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
its not just that, hes gotten sh!t for a while now regardless of where he was in the card. i think he was like 3 down in his fight before this and still got the same reaction, and people where already moaning about him a year ago when hed been a pro just 2 years.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
I understand what you are saying, but it is not analysing his career development in isolation but stimulated by his world ranking, what FW says about him and also what they say about themselves compared to other fighters. If you going to talk the talk you must walk the walk. If they weren’t talking we wouldn’t be criticising so much
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Walter Gabriel Sequeira - 20 October 2018
Most of those you have listed don't claim to be above domestic level though as far as I know. Whereas yarde or more his team suggest that fighting them would achieve nothing I think that is where most criticism comes from that we are British fans and always regardless of the division like to know whose best here.jamamb wrote: ↑21 Oct 2018, 02:48 yardes been a pro 3 years only , take that in for a moment. i dont know why so many act like hes been moved soooooo slowly and unambitiously.

I do get that he didn't have many amateur fights and has been a pro a relatively short time, but he's had a lot of hype it's seemed, tops bills is ranked highly with at least one governing body but then we see him against an opponent like the one he fought last night that all adds up to a bit of frustration I think for fans.

Any news on the trouble last night?
