Buster Douglas vs Michael Moorer. Add Golota to a round robin hypothetical.

Post by BoxBuzz »

The idea of this match intrigues me.

Both on opposite ends of big upsets.

Both had pretty good boxing skills and questionable chins. Douglas had size advantage on his side, Moorer probably had a bit more punching power....maybe that's questionable. But both were erratic, temperamental warriors. Each having their own share of inconsistencies.

I would never bet on this fight......because they both had such "loose cannon" aspects.

Adding Golota to a "Round Robin" Discussion would be an actuary table nightmare. This set of hypotheticals would have to make anybody who likes to assess the odds go full tilt loco.

Taking them at their brief respective peaks, Douglas was much more impressive in knocking out Tyson than Moorer was in decisioning Holyfield. I'll go with Buster.

In a fight with either, Golota would be on the verge of winning when he would find some way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Both Douglas and Moorer displayed beautiful boxing, when they were ready. Douglas had a better jab, I'd say. And Douglas' chin was better as well. Those would have probably been decisive factors, I give Douglas the edge.

Golota is similar to them in the sense of being both highly skilled and inconsistent. He wasn't that gutsy though. He would have been a tough matchup for those two, if he was ready mentally. He would have handled Moorer with a bigger probability.

My thoughts exactly.
