Ryota Murata vs Rob Brant
Murata defends his WBA "Ordinary" belt against Brant this Saturday on allegedly, I haven't seen much of Murata TBH I can only remember seeing him on the Bradley/Rios card a few years back although I wasn't too impressed from memory, he is meant to be decent though and improving, got robbed against N'Jikam by all accounts but KO'd him in the rematch, would like to see him step up the competition, he's coming off a KO win over Blandamura who Saunders KO'd in a European title defence a few years ago
Brant was fvcking diabolical against Braehmer, lost every round for me, who knows he might be better down at 160 but I doubt it, Murata should win this with ease

Cheers mate. Yeah I'll be watching Andrade I think. Haven't seen much of Murata yet though so might give this one a watch at some point. He seems to be hovering around the lower end of the top 10 in the world, not sure how much of a threat he is to the likes of Canelo, GGG, Jacobs etc.

Re: Ryota Murata vs Rob Brant
Fvck me was that seriously the same Rob Brant who never won a round against Braehmer? He done more in the 1st round than he done all night against Juergen, I thought he was excellent, he came out like a man possessed right from the start and TBF apart from the odd lull he kept pushing out the punches, rocking the static head back of Murata, I had Brant winning 117-111 but he had moments in every round, whenever Murata would load up the right hand, Brant would come firing back with one of his own, both swapped right hands all night but Brant landed far more and was able to mix it up a little as well, fast jab, moving around the ring well and beating Murata at his own game
How the hell can Murata win an Olympic Gold medal with zero head movement or plan B? He's about as basic as you get, if he wasn't a tough bastard Brant would've slept him in the 1st as that's how early Brant was finding the target clean. its amazing how your perception of a fighter can change after 1 fight, Brant put in one of the worst efforts ever against Braehmer but it was effort which won him this "title" here

Re: Ryota Murata vs Rob Brant
Muratas style doesn't even look good for the amateur game.
Most of his olympic fights were very close. One point in them.
The guy has never thrown a counter punch in his life.
I don't think he understands the meaning of slipping a punch either.
Genuinely giving Nathan Cleverly a run for his money in terms of planting your feet to the canvas and waiting for your opponent to stop punching before you punch back. Against Braehmer Brant was scared to throw because Braehmer is quite a good counter puncher. Murata would get a hiding from Canelo or GGG. He should apologize for mentioning their names pre fight.

murata got absolutely tooled
brant was so bad vs braehmer but with this win he deserves another consideration down at mw. he showed great stamina and really boxed the perfect approach.
but although brant box well murata was pretty bad too. absolutely no dimensions to his game, super telegraphed loaded up shots and very predictable right hand, open defense, etc. and once he got tired he was moving like a zombie in cement

Easily the worst Murata performance so far, wonder how much he over looked Brant and looked at the GGG fight. There was a lack of intensity through out, no snap on anything and a gamelan that involved slow right hands.

He never fought a mobile combo puncher like Brant before. I think he just got exposed.Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑22 Oct 2018, 02:57 Easily the worst Murata performance so far, wonder how much he over looked Brant and looked at the GGG fight. As for Brant, I think counter puncher canelo beats him easily. His style would give GGG problems if he can take the nuclear power that would be coming his way.

Murata was rubbish
