Did we not determine how far he could go in his last fight? If he was the goods he would surely have handled Cunningham.stujones wrote: ↑15 Oct 2018, 06:47 I thought he was incredibly lucky to get his bronze at the Olympics. However, I don't think you can deny his talent. He was representing Team GB at a time when the boxing had such a strong depth. So even if he was lucky to get Bronze, he was obviously a world class amateur.
I liked how he started at the pros.... there were lots of tests to come, but he seemed to have the style to go far... but then I thought the same of Ohara Davies. It is all about levels and I don't think anyone can really say how far he would have gone.
I wish him well.

Hopefully he stays away from boxing. Can't fukk about with your vision. You can see his eye isn't right and I'd be surprised if he got a licence.
No chance he's winning a world title anyway. Seems a nice lad I'm sure he'll get plenty work.

Wish him luck, I really do, but history is against him, serious eye injuries tend to be career ending.
Re: Anthony Ogogo Still Hopes To Fight, Be a World Champion
The worst advice in this situation is silence.
Someone needs to tell him to drop the idea, and focus on other ways to make a living.
The long lay off, the eye and the depth of the middleweight division in general, means the dream of being a world champion are just that - a dream.
He's a good looking lad, has a bit of charisma. He should stick to TV work. Otherwise his eye will end up looking like Margarito's.

Poor Ogogo must be completely deluded if he thinks the board would even consider licensing him again. Seems like he seriously needs Counciling. I feel for him.

Re: Anthony Ogogo Still Hopes To Fight, Be a World Champion
Didn't he also have a problem with his upper arm as well, at one point it looked like it was wasting away - I think maybe after a dislocation. It doesn't really bode well for him but he probably needs to give it a go. I can't imagine the TV work he has done will pay particularly well or that it will last for long - not really a household name so he would really need the solid boxing career behind him to sustain a media career.
Wish him well but the painful truth is he never really looked that good.

At the end of the day it’s his decision and choice. There must be people around him supporting his decision.
Personally I think it’s a terrible shame that he can’t walk away from the sport, as a fighter anyway, and try something else.
Tony Jeffries had a similar situation and chose to walk away due to hand problems. I believe he is now living in LA running a couple of gyms. He’s moved away from the actual competing side of boxing and is concentrating on the fitness side. He appears to be doing very well.

Seems a really nice guy so I wish well. However, he wouldn't get past British level with three working eyes.
Re: Anthony Ogogo Still Hopes To Fight, Be a World Champion
I hope he retires he has got a long life infront of him after boxing
As much as we all the love the sport its not the be all and end all id rather have two working eyes

I agree.
I know he said that he has spent all the money he earned in the ring on surgery etc. but I am sure that this doesn't include sponsorship money and earnings from adverts like Subway and appearing on Big Brother.
He has probably done better than most boxers financially.
His agent wants to get him on I'm a Celebrity, Strictly and Dancing on Ice etc.
