Age has nothing to do with being shot.
And you're insane if you think Wilder has no power.

Peak age is far from an exact science. Mike Tyson for instance developed at a very young age and subsequently became shot at a young age too, poor discipline and a stint in jail didn't help.

Tyson Fury has messed with PEDs, ballooned up to an obscene weight and essentially retired for 3 years. I can't see him recovering his timing and reflexes, they looked well of to me in his last fight.

I think, personally, the notion that Fury is "shot" or making this fight "too soon" may play well into Fury's hands because Wilder will be expecting a haphazard, lackluster, etc version of Fury--- Wilder came in 214 pounds for Ortiz, if he comes in 220 or higher for Fury it'll be indicative that he views Fury as no real threat, and that'll give Fury an edge mentally and physically.

I think Fury, in a way, is holding back what he can actually do--- hence the complete garbage opponents in his comeback (Seferi & Pianeta) because if he seems to be crap and seems incapable of doing more against crap--- it's a "Jedi mind trick" of sorts against Wilder where he may or may not work as hard as he should.

He only came in at 214 because he was recovering from the flu. 220-230 would not indicate he is taking him lightly.

You think Tyson is that good, that he can have 3years off, booze, binge on coke, not train one bit until 12months ago, purposely have 2 shite fight and it is all a bluff as he hasn't lost anything?

He's good but he isn't that good, taking this fight is a risk for both men. If fury does have what it takes, he's taken the quickest route to AJ. Wilder has taken a risk that fury isn't the same one who beat wlad. If he loses he faces a long road back to the top with all the belts in the UK.

Which ones of Fury’s wins can we say had the help of his PED use?
Based on timelines I’d call the Wlad, Chis 2 and Hammer fights as being questionable.

There's only been one heavyweight in history who came back after several years layoff and won the title in his comeback match and that was Vitali Klitschko when he fought Samuel Peter--- every other heavyweight whose mounted comebacks has had to suffer losses (ie, Jim Jeffries) or had a mixed bag of wins/losses before getting back on track (ie, Muhammad Ali) or needed a rather lengthy string of victories to get remotely close to prime condition (ie, George Foreman).

Fury is something unique. He's a near seven footer whose always had speed & awkwardness on his side. He can switch hit--- like the man or not, he poses problems for anyone because of his freakish combination of size and speed and elusiveness. It's not going to be easy--- this will be more challenging than the Klitschko fight, primarily because of the layoff--- but if anyone could pull off such a victory it could only be a guy like Fury. He's a puzzle that has yet to be solved.

If Fury loses, who knows whether he'll continue boxing or not--- I suspect that he would only because the monkey would finally be off of his back (maintaining the perfect record) and he'd be doubly dangerous--- like him or not, people talk about him and want to see him face off against Anothony Joshua. People want to see AJ vs Wilder too, but, at the same time when two of the best heavyweights are in Great Britain and they are the two most visible heavyweights in the world--- its inexcusable for the two men NOT to meet up.

That crossed my mind too Henry.
If Tyson looked too good in his comeback fights, Wilders handlers wouldn't let him risk it.
Now he has the fight locked in, I expect him to be furiously working in the gym. The recent press photos of him looked slimmer.
The guy is a mind f*cker.

I hope you are right, but fear you may be wrong. The Fury of three years ago would be a clear favourite for this but he doesn't look anywhere near the same, If he gets through the first three or four rounds then I think he wins on late stoppage or points, but Wilder is favourite to win by stoppage.

Wilder usually wins late after a few scares,so unless he thinks he can steamroll Fury early,it's more likely to happen later when he finds himself behind on points.I'd prefer Wilder to win,as him against Joshua has far more appeal to me than Fury v Joshua,i just don't enjoy watching Fury fight at all.

I know that Wilder carries his power quite late but Fury is a far superior boxer and if he gets into a rhythm and has early success I think he'll likely stop him or box his head off.

Slow. Fat. Plodding. Inflated sense of his skillset. He looked like a comic doing impressions of different boxing styles.

3 years out an balllooning up in weight, clearly aged with drugs and lost all his hair. This guy is a shadow of the boxer we seen weave around Klitchko in Hamburg.

I think Fury is going to get flattened by Wilder, but at least he'll make enough money to go back into retirement, probably best he makes it permanent. Or maybe his rivalry with Price will be relevant again.
wilder is a banger , ortiz at 62 years old nearly did a job on him , tyson only fights one fight every 2 years , he will school wilder like a chief
And now describe how the fight ended? Shall I help you... Wilder showed a great chin and huge resilience to weather the storm of massive punching Ortiz, who threw the complete kitchen sink at Wilder. Wilder withstood it all and then smashed Ortiz, a very durable man, into submission.

Ortiz punches far harder than Fury and with much more dangerous intent. Forget Ortiz’s age, Eddie didn’t want AJ anywhere near him.

I view the Ortiz fight as a positive for Wilder and not a negative. His heart and desire is another level stuff. This is heavyweight boxing, let’s not forget. Anyone can rock anyone. Theses are big dudes.

For fair and objective balance, what’s your thoughts on Fury being dropped heavy onto his back by a cruiserweight?

A big solid lump, who absorbed massive punches from Wilder and remained conscious and definitely didn’t look for the easy way out. Went down fighting against a murdeous puncher.

I think his tougness is also implied by how many top fighters including AJ have been keen to avoid him.

I take your point though. But by no means is he a fragile man.

That’s the thing - Wlad “coulda” got loads of KOs throughout his career, but didn’t.
Gunshy, mentally weak, too gentle a soul -whatever you call it - Wlad never had that finisher’s spite.
If they’d had a rematch, Wlad woulda floored AJ, then - just when he had him a sitting-duck...?
He wouldn’t pull the trigger - again - he’d let AJ recover and win - again - and people would say, “Wlad coulda had him if he’d really gone for it” AGAIN !
Just his nature.
Exactly this, I mean, when he beat Pulev on points, that showed. He floored Pulev 3 times then started crying and refused to finish him. Just his nature

he didnt really press for a finish much vs pulev

wlad was actually pretty quiet between those times where hed catch pulev with his chin up. people remember that fight in a way that flatters him. and people say stuff about him being more aggressive etc, but he was actually holding plenty and very tentative between the kds. pulev just didnt have the chin or defense, and he kept walking into stuff, with obviously no follow up needed after the 5th round kd

vs aj, wlad actually was more aggressive after scoring the knockdown then a lot of people say too. he went for aj and was throwing big shots, lots of loaded up left hooks , he really went for him in the 5th too. watch it again....aj actually did a good job of keepign his compusre and seeing the loaded up shots coming

I agree with the OP I think Fury is shot. I think the drugs, pies, time out of the ring have had a massive effect and even his mental attitude is just gone now.
He's just seen what David Haye did and realised he can talk his way into big fights. I mean, why NOT make another £5m-£10m if it's as easy as fighting a couple of bums and then talking your way into a big fight.
Fury's mouth is writing cheques that his ass can't cash.

I hope he proves me wrong, I hope he pulls a superb performance out the bag, but I just expect a borefest, I expect him to be slow and plodding, hugging Wilder a lot and maybe try and convince people he's won by trying to nullify Wilder with spoiling tactics. If that happens I hope WIlder chins him.

I think he will be proving a lot of people wrong

Same circumstances different fight for fury, many didn’t believe he had the skills/fitness to beat klitschko, he’s had a go on the coke, he’s eat he’s drank, but he’s also done a lot of weight and to me seems very switched on and ready for his task

The pride the man has is unreal, he’s not going to make a laugh of himself for a few paydays as he is very wealthy, all of them are, he doesn’t need to sell himself up the river for a bitta cash, I think he’s gonna put in a better performance here than he did vs klitschko :TU: :bag:

If I’m wrong I won’t act divvy over it and come on here and make all sorts of sh*t excuses, but I don’t think I am wrong
