Re: MODS: RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF THREADS ...
I agree. Don't see why one would need to create more than 5 threads per day unless they are about some 3rd league fights which won't get any feedback from other forum members.
Re: MODS: RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF THREADS ...
been here for years and there was a time where we had lots of feedbacks on those. Because Boxrec like Boxing is a world wide sport and we had members from everywhere commenting and adding supplementary infos in those local threads.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑23 Oct 2018, 19:11 I agree. Also these are boxing threads on a boxing forum. Ain't that what it is supposed to be about? When i post the threads the same day, half of the results aren't even on the boxrec result page yet... and the threads offer Hls.
I'm a hardcore fan and i ain't alone here (most of the threads get more than a hundred views when there is no suppl. comments, hundreds of views when people comment). I know lots are still following this WORLD WIDE sport. What may be 3rd league for you is valuable information to follow up coming prospects for others.
we could do 20 more Myaweather threads but i think diversity represents the sport better. Because there is more going around than just boxing in USA and UK.
I'd understand if i'd be trolling (plenty here are doing that and no threads are asking them to be limited)... I am clearly trying to get some hardcore boxing discussion going on again like it used to be here.

Re: MODS: RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF THREADS ...
Hands up. I post a lot of threads.. Mostly upcoming fights.
I view tonnes on boxing websites from different parts of the world. If it's an upcoming boxing match, it will appeal to at least one person here..
I posted the Murata vs. Brant thread. Had views but like 3-4 comments before the fight, and that was mostly me with updates. As soon the fight came around and the upset took place, comments started pouring in.

Its a boxing forum so post as many boxing related threads as you want, don't have to read everything if you don't want to.

Re: MODS: RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF THREADS ...
The mods should restrict the amount of threads discussing precisely the same topic.
For instance: how many threads asking forum members to estimate the amount of Showtime PPV buys for the Wilder-Fury bout do we really need?
The mods should also be more vigilant by deleting or moving threads that are off-topic, where they don’t relate to the world-rated “Current Scene”.
However, I imagine that it would be quite challenging being a moderator, especially if you’re performing this unpaid role, whilst having a limited amount of free time.
Anyway, boxing is a global sport and any news related to world-rated fighters should be reported as soon as these stories are published by the media. And Ruthless-RKO and myself work hard to keep the forum up-to-date of any new developments.
Sometimes our threads are wildly popular, sometimes no one shows any interest whatsoever and other times there’s a delayed reaction, whereby they’re initially ignored, but then they eventually receive a lot of views and responses.
If people aren’t interested in our threads, then they can always ignore them!
If Ruthless-RKO posts a thread covering a news story, I do my upmost to refrain from creating a duplicate thread covering the same subject matter. And I believe he does the same.
It seems that other forum members aren’t quite so vigilant as we are, because when GGG of Kovalev tasted defeat, there were literally dozens of threads created by lots of people b¡tch¡ng and moaning about so-called “robberies”, whereby only one thread per instance were required. The mods need to prevent this from happening, but I appreciate that this may be a difficult thing to do.

Re: MODS: RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF THREADS ...
There’s no need to restrict the number of threads a poster can make. As long as the threads are boxing related and relevant, it makes no difference who created them. Sometimes we do get duplicates by mistake, but the mods have the ability to merge as appropriate.
If any poster consistently creates too many spurious threads, they will no doubt get warned and potentially suspended/banned if they persist.

whole page of threads created within
short time by the same person. it just
dominates the front page if that is done.
i find it inconvenient, because i come
here sometimes for a quick glance on
what is going on in general, not so see
someone's personal interest in detail.
but hey, that's just me and this is a
community. not my castle, not my rules.

I make sure I have a look into his threads every time he posts.
He goes to some effort, posting GIFs of fights and giving links to fights I'd never see.
There's a tonne of useless threads on here. Countless exercises in vanity -posting opinion pieces on topics there's already threads about, rather than just adding it in to the existing thread as a post.
Beast's are all about the sport. Excellent contributor.
If this thread is aimed at Beast, then you're way off, mate.

I agree. The problem I have with Beast's and RKO's posts is that the flood the Current Scene getting more interesting posts hard to see. A separate "Lower Leagues" section would be a good solution.tiny_acres wrote: ↑24 Oct 2018, 14:58I actually would like The Beast to have his own section.Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑24 Oct 2018, 14:45Beast is the best poster on Current Scene.

The Beast is the best poster on the CS. I click every single one of his threads regardless of whether I post in it or not.
Is scrolling really that hard for some?

Sometimes I just use the search option. Type in Golovkin or GGG and narrow it down to post titles and wallah you’ll get GGG related threads.

Re: MODS: RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF THREADS ...
We obviously don't need more than one on the same/similar topics (i.e. there's 2 threads on page 1 about Ortiz vs Kauffman). Nor do we really need new threads for discussions that could go on in an existing thread. For example, when Jacobs and Derevyanchko fight this weekend, let's say Danny wins, you'll probably get some people talking about future fights in the RBR thread, a new thread saying "what next for Jacobs?" and one person starting a new thread just for their opinion "Jacobs whoops Canelo" or something like that. That could all be in one place which would, IMO, make for a better discussion.
It's more a case of asking people to use common sense rather than imposing a limit. There's people who start lots of threads but they're usually useful. Ruthless will often start threads for fights that aren't getting much attention and I'd forgotten about. The Beast often does threads about fights I had no clue were happening full stop.
