Jermall Charlo vs. Willie Monroe Jr. - December 22, 2018 *Fight off*

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Premier Boxing Champions has finalized a doubleheader for December 22nd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The doubleheader, which is going to be televised on FOX, will feature WBC interim-middleweight champion Jermall Charlo taking on Willie Monroe Jr., while twin brother and WBC junior middleweight world champion Jermell Charlo will face Tony Harrison.

There will be a press conference held on Thursday, at Barclays, to officially announce the card - and the Charlo twins will flip a coin at the press conference to decide which of them will be featured as the "main event" of the card.

Anyone reckon Monroe get’s knocked out here? Not a bad match up IMO.

Monroe will be his best win at MW too. Even though he’s clearly past his best. Don’t think he taken too much punishment. (Apart from the GGG fight)..

Must admit I am disappointed. I like both Charlos but they need to face tougher challengers. This is PBC's glaring weakness...they match their top fighters with 2nd-tier guys like Monroe and Harrison. Neither Monroe or Harrison has done anything to deserve a world title shot and both have been dominated every time they tried to step up.

Not very good fight, but it could be even worse. Smaller Charlo got more sh)ttier fight when we considering that Hurd, Lara, Munguia have no fight scheduled.

Monroe wants to make amends for his dreadful non-performance against Saunders.

He's slick and smart and will give a spirited effort.

It won't be enough to get him a win, but I think Monroe goes the distance in losing a competitive decision.

Jermall should try fighting Bivol, Gvozdyk, and Usyk on the same night. Because that's what he'd have to do for Golovkin's bodyguards to stop arguing that he hasn't done enough to get a shot at Golovkin. ... Either that, or they would argue it even harder then.

its obvious you have guys who dont want ggg-charlo to happen because there worried ggg will lose

i mean, one the one hand some guys say charlo hasnt earned a shot because his opposition hasnt been good enough, and they questuion whether hes legit. yet on the other hand, they are also against him taking the type of fights where hed step up his opposition and wed get to see what hes got vs a top mw.

ggg boy: "jermall you havent fought good opposition!!'
jermal:: okay so i will fight a top opponent
ggg boy: no! you dont deserve that chance!

charlo vs canelo/ggg/jacob/saunders/andrade etc would all be really interesting. monores not awful but hes not interesting at all and not at this level. hopefully charlo gets that shot soon and isnt just stagnating while he waits

LOL

What top opponent ? Featherfisted-chiny El Mongoose ?

Lemieux and Maciej Sulecki were a good start for Jermall to step up but he cherrypicked a very safe opponent. Let's see Jermall pushing for fights with Jacobs, Andrade, BJS or even Brant now that these guys are fight-free. :TU:

IMO:
Jacobs deserved fight against Canelo with win over Derevyanchenko.
Charlo should fight against Andrade next and winner get fight against Golovkin. Both Charlo and Andrade are very good boxers despite their poor resume.

hes waiting on a wbc shot and has been for a while, yet ppl like you seem to against him getting it, even though you also call for him to face a top boxer and call for him to prove himself

um, okay then, well hed satisfy just that by fighting canelo or ggg, yet your against it. basically, i think you really want him to not get a good fight, so you can just keep slagging him off, and some ggg boys dont want it because there worried of the threat to ggg....thats why they wanted murata but not charlo lol

look at the majority of the guys the top mws have fought, most havent done more then charlo, and the belt holeers themselves were less proven then charlo when they first fought for a title

btw you keep saying how charlo has a worse mw resume then these other guys, but heiland, centeno, and monroe (if mall wins) isnt weaker at all then what guys like andrade and sulecki and derevchanko have

and ya, i want to see him step up too, which is exactly why we should be all for him facing one of the top guys. bizarre to be so against it when your calling for him to step up and also saying murata vs ggg shouldve happened

The fight vs. Centento wasn’t deserving to be interim WBC belt. Just WBC’s way of cash grabbing.

Jermall just wants to easy pick that wbc strap and use it as a bargaining chip. If Charlo doesn't beat a top dog, his profile won't be worthy for a big fight. He should challenge guys like Andrade, BJS, Lemieux and Brant to build up his profile. :TU:

What has andrade done at middle? Lol, he did less at 54. You could at least pretend to be fair. I'm sure if charlo fought Brant you'd give him credit.

Well you have a point with Andrade but at least he got a title. As for Jermall vs Brant fight I'd cheer for it and praise Jermall if he'd beat Brant. :TU:

Why do you keep saying Brant? If you can't respect a fighter who's beaten Bundrage, Trout, Julian Williams, Heiland, Centeno, and Willie Monroe; then beating some total f*cking random named Rob Brant isn't going to change that. Brant's not even a guy that we discuss on this forum ever. In his whole life, he's only been ranked a divisional top 15 fighter for 9 days. That's gonna set the world record for biggest goalpost move.
"Beat Brant, then I'll give you the respect that I've been withholding up until now."
*beats Brant*
"So what? Brant isn't even in the top 500. You think I respect him for beating some nobody like Brant? Charlo still needs to beat at least 200 more contenders before he can be allowed near Golovkin."

News flash: Golovkin made title defenses against guys like Dominic Wade, Willie Monroe, Marco Rubio, Osumanu Adama, Curtis Stevens, Nobuhiro Ishida, Gabriel Rosado, Grzegorz Proksa, Makoto Fuchigami, Lajuan Simon, Kassim Ouma, and Nilson Tapia. Charlo isn't below the caliber of Golovkin's opponents. Quite the opposite, Charlo would be a legacy-defining win for Golovkin. In fact, Golovkin's current legacy-defining wins are... Danny Jacobs, David Lemieux, Daniel Geale, and from there, you can take your pick of a top 5 welterweight, a barely top 10 light middlweight, and some borderline top 10 middleweights.

Why don't you just remind me of which middleweight Vanes Martirosyan beat to get his shot at Golovkin?
apollo creed wrote: 28 Oct 2018, 12:25 Well you have a point with Andrade but at least he got a title.
Is that all you have to do? You just have to beat some random named Walter Kautondokwa for a vacant title, and that makes you the top challenger for Golovkin? All this time, Golovkin's bodyguards would've let Charlo through if Charlo did the simple task of beating Walter Kautondokwa.
