Your thoughts on Alberto Machado?

Post by chuck9788 »

WBA super featherweight champion Alberto Machado (21-0, 17 KO's) wiped out another opponent in the 1st round last night.

Can he compete with Tevin Farmer, Miguel Berchelt or "Tank" Davis? How good is Machado in your eyes?

He struggled immensely with Corrales. He has power, though. It's not anything new that he could stop guys.

All three guys you mentioned, though, are athletic, strong, and better fighters than Corrales.

From his performance against Corrales, off the top of my head, I can't see him beating Tank. He probably matches up better with Farmer and Berchelt, although that's not to say he beats either.

He's a nice prospect. I think Davis is too much for him but he's much bigger than tank.

Despite his unbeaten record his opposition hasnt been on the level of a Berchelt or a Davis, so he still remains a question mark against the best at 130. Machado's wins over Evans and Mensah are nothing special, with Evans getting demolished in 1 round by Javier Fortuna in his previous loss.

I would give Machado a slight edge over Farmer and have him a slight underdog vs Berchelt & Gervonte.

his win over corralles is good, corralles ktfo the unbeaten, arguably division #1 at the time, and then beat him again in a rematch. corralles was a champ and top 5 fighter at least when machado beat him

dont know how you can mention evans and mensah while totally ignoring the obviously superior corralles. hed easily be among tank and berchelts very best wins too and better then anyone farmers beat

i do think tank and berchelt are better, but macahdo is a good fighter and not totally unproven
