I think my favourite performance by a British boxer would have to be Nigel Benn against Gerald McClellan but have a soft spot for Frank Bruno's performance against Oliver McCall

And a long count to keep him in the fight.
He was looking for the ref, he would have stood up anyway. And the bell was right after the count, so what's the value of extra 4 seconds?
Don't be starting with the long count nonesense,he got up to the refs count, end of story.
They also showed that he got up quicker than tyson did.

How he managed to get through that fight and win I'll never know! Hard hard man!

Not got an outright favourite but Crisanto Espana vs Meldrick Taylor was a highlight.

Hamed Vs Belcastro. I knew Hamed was something special after that fight.

Holyfield vs Tyson. I'd always loved Holyfield and picked him over Tyson but thought this arrived too late for him. A defining moment that shows what Evander was about was at the end of the first where Tyson threw a shot after the bell and Holyfield looked him right in the eye and banged him back. Evander was the boss all night and systematically took Tyson apart. An awesome performance, as good as it gets.

His performance against Bute was punch perfect and his career was on the line that night. Bute didn't know what hit him.

Similarly, George Groves' performance in the first Froch fight was phenomenal. Yes, Carl overlooked him but Groves boxed his head off for 6 rounds and it was a real coming of age night for him. I still believe that Adam Booth would have kept him disciplined enough after 6 rounds to win that fight, but as it turned out it was a fantastic comeback win from Froch, albeit an early stoppage (Froch would have stopped him after regsrdless IMO).
As horrible as the final outcome was, I thought Groves looked at his absolute peak vs Gutknecht.

I think in terms of skills his best showing was a fight or two earlier against Tackie. The boxing against Tszyu was at times a tad scrappy (Billy Graham said later this was intentional - i.e. putting the pressure on Tszyu above boxing skills). Having said that Hatton never again showed that level of toughness and intensity, so in a different sense that was his peak performance.

:TU: I picked evander to beat Mike when he was a cruiser. Morales first fight with PAC was another one, oddly Morales/maidana us easily in my top 5. I remember getting mocked on the cs for demanding it would be a close decision and in the 5th rd I actually leaked a couple years.

Not his best ever performance but certainly my favourite is RJJ V Ruiz.

I remember watching Calzaghe vs Lacy. Lacy was hyped as an middleweight Tyson and he just took savage beating for every second of fight. It was unreal how Calzaghe clowned him and practically destroys his career that night.

Yeah it was a terrific performance. I think its up there alongside Froch 1 and Murray in his career.

I enjoyed Carlos Maussa vs Vivien Harris. Maussa came in with no chance according to the bookies. Harris had confronted Mayweather and was seen as a serious contender. Maussa just fought like he was fighting on instinct and gradually you got the feeling that he was going to win.

I just rewatched the highlights of that fight, haven’t seen it for years. Crazy to think how highly Harris was rated up to that point. Maussa had such a weird style, great performance from him, although he was lucky not to be disqualified when he ran up and punched Harris whilst he was lying face down on the canvas

Haha that last punch was a classic. Anyone other than Maussa might have been disqualified but I think he was given leniency due to his wayward style. Harris had no answer for the volume but I liked how he tried to walk Maussa down. Landed some big left hooks if I recall correctly. Another one of my favourites performances is Cotto vs Torres. First test for Cotto and he was absolutely all over the place early but ended up overpowering Torres. Showed a real fighters heart and instinct in that one and made me a fan. He took some dangerous fights on the way up. Kelson Pinto was a banger and Cotton banged with him too and got him out of there

I liked Tarvers second fight against Jones - the KO. He had the look of a fighter who knew he owned the legend opposite him. Thought he won the first fight as well, and from what I remember there wasn't much evidence at that point that jones was on the slide.

The sight of Jones on the canvas like that was shocking at the time. I guess his career was over at that point. After the third fight he seemed to be bragging that he went the distance with Tarver and lost a decision in his post fight interview with Larry Merchant. Sad sight to see. Especially when you consider that he had just come back down after beating Ruiz for the WBA heavyweight title the year before. I think he should have just tried his luck at heavyweight but he didn't fancy giving up 50 pounds to Lewis or the Klitschkos.

I'm uncertain that FW would be willing to pay the amount that would be needed for such a fight, how much it take - I'd definitely something like $5 million plus. And that's not counting Carl's salary.

I just don't think that fight is economically viable. Even though I would love to see it over here.

Yeah and Bute was favourite going into the fight, because he was coming off eight stoppage wins in his previous ten fights.
Carl walked through his best punches and made a wee boy out of him.

Yeah you're probably right mate. Can't see allegedly putting together a deal that'll bring LSC over. He was moaning after the first fight because it was in New York and there was a strong Irish fan base there so they'll struggle to entice him over to Belfast!

Some good calls on here so I'll deliberately go with a less obvious one, which was Colin Lynes and his schooling of Young Mutley. Just remember it so vividly as Lynes seemed such a solid, 'old school' throwback who went into the lion's den against a dangerous puncher and showed the advantage of an ice-cold temperament and an educated jab to dominate the fight when a lot of people were picking for him to get stopped. To be fair to Mutley's fans, a big part of the reason I remember it so well was they seemed to create an unbelievable atmosphere at the fight.
