Yeah Derev gave a hard fight to Jacobs. Derev caught Jacobs with some good shots. Good fight.

I was eager to pay my regards to a fighter like Danny who is willing to take risks.
Re: Jacobs had a pretty tough fight with Derev. Props to D.J for taking tough fights unlike the kitty sisters
I actually like Jacobs. He's a true champion. Took the hard way to a title. Insane competition: Pirog, Arias, Golovkin, Quillin, Sulecki, and Derevyanchenko. Then you look at Charlo's resume and laugh.
Shit, Pirog, and Golovkin were the monsters of the MW division and Jacobs fought them both, something Martinez couldn't be asked to do. Enormous balls on the man!

LOL true. Jacobs is a real warrior. As you mentioned about Charlo I remember the video were Jacobs checked Jermall and I heard that young 'lion' meowing.Mexi-Box wrote: ↑28 Oct 2018, 14:27 I actually like Jacobs. He's a true champion. Fair play to him. GGG has been the best at 160 for years (better than Canelo). But Pirog, IMO, was better. Such a pity his back gave up.Mexi-Box wrote: ↑28 Oct 2018, 14:27 I actually like Jacobs. hard to tell wth pirog . him and jacobs werent much more then prospects when they fought for a vacant belt and pirog really did nothng else. he wasnt impressve vs ishida or maciel and even struggled a bit with the latter
imo ggg fought a much more developed jacobs

Re: Jacobs had a pretty tough fight with Derev. Props to D.J for taking tough fights unlike the kitty sisters
I agree. Jacobs was green and got caught and stopped vs Pirog. As a result of that individual fight, Pirog is held up as some sort of mythical boxing legend. It is unfortunate that Pirog was unable to continue his career, but let’s not make him out to be 3G, or for that matter the excellent professional that Jacobs has fought back from massive adversity to become.
3G beat the full blown Jacobs in a closer fight than the first Canelo gift. Jacobs is a hard night for anyone. He has a terrific resume and I would watch him vs anyone.
Same goes for Derevyanchenko.
Re: Jacobs had a pretty tough fight with Derev. Props to D.J for taking tough fights unlike the kitty sisters
ya, ggg and pirog were set to fight on hbo but then pirog withdrew, too bad we never saw it

Why? I agree completely with the OP. Charlos talk the talk. Jacobs walks the walk. So far anyway.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑29 Oct 2018, 13:15 Threads like this make me look for a different boxing forum to post on.

Don't understand why these clowns are offended about a true fact that Charlo is all talk and he's fighting subpar oppositions for how much he is hyped.

Yeah, neither of them have ever faced the likes of Luis arias.
the only fact is you've got an unhealthy obsession with the charlos and don't know what you're talking about. Slim is equally ignorant to the sport.

What about Quillin, GGG, Maciej Sulecki and Derevyanchenko?? When Jermall is gonna have a solid resume like Jacobs ?Onetimeonly wrote: ↑30 Oct 2018, 14:36 Yeah, neither of them have ever faced the likes of Luis arias.the only fact is you've got an unhealthy obsession with the charlos and don't know what you're talking about. malls jmw resume is solid. his mw resume isnt overly impressive and monroe wont boost it that much, but its hardly terrible and hes only just recently moved up
compare charlo to most guys getting shots, and what most champs had done before getting shots, and he is easily qualified

Arias was a big question mark. He actually looked great beating Magomedov. Same thing with one of Charlo's best win, J-Roc, who hasn't done anything before or since the fight.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑30 Oct 2018, 14:36 Yeah, neither of them have ever faced the likes of Luis arias.the only fact is you've got an unhealthy obsession with the charlos and don't know what you're talking about. I agree with what you’ve both said, but it’s also important to note that many fighters either receive world title opportunities or are even given a world championship belts despite having never earned it…Onetimeonly wrote: ↑31 Oct 2018, 08:37jamamb wrote: ↑30 Oct 2018, 19:42 malls jmw resume is solid. his mw resume isnt overly impressive and monroe wont boost it that much, but its hardly terrible and hes only just recently moved up
compare charlo to most guys getting shots, and what most champs had done before getting shots, and he is easily qualifiedbelt holders moving up in weight getting shots is standard. I wonder if the same whiners are pissed off at canelo/fielding or expect usyk to start from scratch? They always say charlos too. Jermell is building a strong resume at 54.
For instance:
• Who did GGG beat in order to gain the WBC title?
• Who did GGG beat to capture the WBA title?
Also, if we review the resumes’ of several world title contenders that GGG faced (based on their middleweight accomplishments at the time they entered the ring against the Kazakh):
Date: 05/05/2018 Opponent: Vanes Martirosyan Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
Had never beaten a top fighter, was inactive for two years, gained only one victory (coupled with two losses) within the previous 3½ years, wasn't a middleweight and wasn’t rated in the top fifteen of the IBO, WBA & WBC. Vanes Martirosyan's resume was so bad that the IBF understandably refused to sanction the career long 154lb-er as a viable opponent for GGG.
Date: 10/09/16 Opponent: Kell Brook Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
A 12-year veteran welterweight that had never scored a clear-cut decisive victory over any top-ten world class 147lb-er. The Brit wasn't a middleweight and had never faced a world-rated opponent above 147lbs.
Date: 23/04/16 Opponent: Dominic Wade Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
A lightly-regarded opponent whose only accomplishment was scoring a controversial decision victory over a 41 year old shot version of Sam Soliman
Date: 16/05/15 Opponent: Willie Monroe Jr Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
A former light middleweight that was lightly-regarded and was untested, having never previously competed against a top-ten world-rated middleweight prior to the Golovkin bout
Date: 18/10/14 Opponent: Marco Antonio Rubio Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: 8
A former welterweight and two-time failed world title challenger, with six losses on his resume, that had previously been dominated or stopped by Chavez Jr. and Pavlik
Date: 01/02/14 Opponent: Osumanu Adama Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
One-time failed world title challenger, a former light middleweight and a lightly-regarded opponent
Date: 02/11/13 Opponent: Curtis Stevens Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: 11
An anonimous fighter that had already lost three times prior to facing Golovkin, one of them to the lightly regarded Jessie Brinkley
Date: 29/06/13 Opponent: Matthew Macklin Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: 7
A former welterweight, one time failed world title challenger and entered the ring against GGG having lost two of his previous three bouts
Date: 30/03/13 Opponent: Nobuhiro Ishida Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
A former light middleweight that had failed to win ten of his bouts, entered the ring against Golovkin having tasted defeat in his previous two outings
Date: 19/01/13 Opponent: Gabriel Rosado Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
A former light middleweight, having lost five fights, that had never previously engaged in either a 160lb bout nor a world title fight
Date: 01/09/12 Opponent: Grzegorz Proksa Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: 10
A former light middleweight that was defeated in one of his previous three bouts immediately prior to facing Golovkin and was also a former light middleweight
Date: 12/05/12 Opponent: Makoto Fuchigami Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
An anonimous fighter that had already lost six times
Date: 09/12/11 Opponent: Lajuan Simon Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
A failed world title challenger that had lost three of his previous five bouts at the time he fought Golovkin… and had even lost his previous bout immediately prior to facing GGG
Date: 17/06/11 Opponent: Kassim Ouma Divisional Ring Magazine Rating: Unranked
A former welterweight contender and 154lb world champion that had tasted defeat in five of his previous seven bouts at the time he entered the ring against Golovkin
And whilst I anticipate people attempting to defend the calibre of opposition the Kazakh fought by falsely claiming that “it wasn't his fault, because everybody was far too scared to fight GGG!”, there's a strange and factually-undeniable absence of any financial offers from Golovkin's representatives to face any of his big name rivals during the above time period.
It’s fairly reasonable to propose a compellingly strong argument that supports the notion that Jermall Charlo’s resume is either vastly superior or at least comparable to the names mentioned in the above list.
