Miguel Berchelt vs Miguel Roman

Post by handsofstone »

Berchelt defends his WBC Super Featherweight title against battle hardened veteran Roman this weekend live on allegedly, I'm expecting an all Mexican war, its the only way although Berchelt has proven in the past he's more than capable of outboxing sluggers, I think his reign as champ seems to be on the downslide, great win over Vargas in a pure humdinger to win the title then a great performance to outbox an albeit shot Miura but after that Awuku and Barros, both easy and early stoppages

On paper Roman looks another formality, always been beaten when stepping up, losses against Miura and Barros himself as well as a fair few well known names and a couple of unsuccessful losses in world title attempts but he's coming off that FOTY contender win over Salido and he was excellent that night, beat Salido at his own game and just battered him really

I'm hoping Roman can muster up that sort of showing against Berchelt here and it could make for a great scrap, I see Berchelt having a bit too much power and abilty for Roman though, no matter how he chooses to fight him I see him better in whatever department, Roman will make him work for it but I reckon Berchelt on points

Must have heard of Berchelt?

He got a high rating after he beat Vargas.

Flipping eck what a fight, these Mexicans don't fvck around do they, Berchelt stop the insanely brave Roman in the 9th to retain his title, it was an absolute war, albeit a one sided one, Roman down twice in the 7th and once in the 9th before getting stopped, Berchelt was landing big shots from the opening round, he put his shots together nicely landing 3/4 punch combinations and it was his quality which was always the difference even when Roman would land with some big single shots himself

Roman was down 3 times but still showed some beard and incredible fighting heart, all 3 knockdowns he was pretty much battered to the canvas with Berchelt's onslaughts, lefts and rights non stop, the body punching from Berchelt was sickening and he was landing some heavy artillery downstairs

There was a few times the fight could've been stopped before it was , especially after Roman was down twice in that 7th but somehow he just kept coming and trying to duke it out but he was fighting on heart alone for about the last 3/4 rounds, after he was down in the 9th from a Berchelt attack, unsurprisingly he got up ready for more but when Berchelt trapped him on the ropes the ref stepped in as Berchelt teed off on him

Epic fight that like :salut:

Great fight. Kudos to Roman for his brave effort but, although he had some success, Berchelt was just too good.

Brutal brutal fight.

Fight of the Year IMO. Even though it was one-sided Roman was still throwing the kitchen sink at him, and he was landing big punches throughout.

I’m a huge fan of Berchelt and watched him a lot coming up. That’s the most I’ve seen him lift his chin up in the air. Hopefully it’s a one-off and not a bad habit he’s picked up.

I love Berchelt. Berchelt-Davis please.

One hell of a fight. Berchelt must have been wondering what he had to do to get rid of Roman. Roman showed insane bravery. Someone should have pulled him out in the 6th, but my god he was one brave dude.

Excellent performance Berchelt. He just keeps the punches coming :box:
