Why on earth was the ref counting? There wasn’t a knockdown he twisted a muscle

Minute I heard that I put £100 on Donaire at 6/1 got my money back from backing Williams

because it is the rules?

Same as when Floyd took a knee when he bust a hand.

Fight was stopped 1 second in to the round as Burnett couldn’t continue.

Not sure but is it because he didn’t answer the bell for the 5th?

Yeah you take a knee, you get counted? Unless there’s something I’m missing.

Absolute sickener for Burnett, everything on the line lost like that, he was boxing superb too, it was shaping up to be a great fight I thought, Burnett oozes class sometimes, he took a few clean shots when in the corner, Donaire got through some nice punches but for the most part Burnett boxed beautifully on the outside, jabbed well, some nice lead right hands and sharp lefts, he has good upper body movement but takes silly shots, think machismo plays a part when he's relaxed in there

Just a gutting way for any fight to end but for Burnett, he's out the WBSS, lost his title and unbeaten record as well as a couple of nice paydays, seemed the back went as he threw that right hand, fvck know what Foster was playing at issuing a count

Edit- just read the explanations for the count, sorry Howard

Two fights prior to this one were boring and went the distances. Burnett-Donaire was finally starting as a good bout, but it was over that early due to the injury. :witzend:

Burnett is not an exciting fighter. His performances vs Haskin and the last fight were horrible to watch. I am delighted he lost and is out of the tournament. At least Donaire goes in and gives it a go. Burnett will come to stink the joint out every time.

Btw I'd say, Donaire started the fight better, his shots looked more damaging.

How stiff is this bloke he keeps trying to shake out his arms. No good, energy draining holding such a stiff guard.
