i think bute killed himself making weight. was so so gaunt.

Hindsight I know but Bute was made for Froch. He just didn't have the durability. He was almost stopped in the last round against Andrade and had fought nobody really up til the Froch fight. He was rattled. I remember seeing him training and he had a stereo system in the gym playing football chants to get him ready for the atmosphere. That showed mental weakness I thought. I had also just seen footage of him getting done by GGG in the amateurs that week. I still thought his body punching would get to Froch though. When Ian Darke said "What fools we were to think Carl Froch was going to get stopped here" on commentary I was thinking just that. I really do think the fight happening in the UK was a big factor but I think Froch stops him even if it had happened in Canada. Just too tough. It's difficult to see many beating Froch. I know people think Calzaghe would have but I highly doubt that. Calzaghe is always going to give Froch the kind of fight he wants and as far as toughness goes, I still think there is only one winner.
I’m not sure about Calzaghe’s style suiting Froch. Calzaghe’s style wasn’t good for anyone, that was part of his strength as a fighter. I never saw anyone else fight like Calzaghe.

Calzaghe figured out a way to win when he was in the ring. He said that much himself a number of times. He was very adaptable and you can't teach that. He was a good enough technician to whip Froch. It's unfortunate we'll never know for certain but I'm pretty confident Calzaghe would have won and won well....

Too right it was unfortunate. I would have loved that match, although I never really thought it would happen tbf

calzaghe had more tools then froch and had plenty of stamina (perhaps even more, imo froch had more slower 'spots') and toughness (especially recovery) himself...dont see froch outlasting him like froch did to others. while froch had skills, at high level it was those other factors that set him apart most

cal wouldve won clear i think, on a higher level then froch, kess, and certainly guys like abe and dirrell and groves
