Missing Records...

Post by kkx2 »

According to several web sites... Gene Fullmer fought "Buster" Keyser giving Fullmer a title shot, just about six months before Fullmer won the Middle Weight Title from Sugar Ray Robinson..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Fullmer
"Fullmer won the world middleweight championship on January 2, 1957, when he upset the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson by soundly winning a unanimous 15-round decision. He won this by beating Buster Keyser in June to advance and fight Sugar Ray"

Kenneth "Buster" Keyser fought Fullmer in June of of 1956 likely in Hawaii. I believe the fight went the distance with Keyser knocking Fullmer down in the early rounds and Fullmer winning by a decision. I can't find a record of this match on BoxRec or anywhere other than a few web sites. I can't find any records on Buster Keyser, however I have met both Fullmer and Keyser and have personal information that the fight occurred. Is there anyway to find this fight information? I would like to find the record, clippings, audio or any information anyone could help with!

I'm not sure if you entered that garbage at Wikipedia yourself, but you sure as hell know that bout didn't happen.

Actually Matt....no actually I didn't.... Buster Keyser was a Navy fighter and at some point, somehow ended up fighting Fullmer in Hawaii. I'm just trying to determine if other than a few sites I can find documentation.

We have entered all the results from Hawaii during that era, so this bout is a figment of your imagination. Also there is a Buster Kezar in the database. Please refer us to these "other sites" you speak of.
