RYAN BURNETT

Post by Couser »

His record is listed as a RTD via the fourth round to Nonito Donaire. This was not the official time announced by the ring announcer at the completion of the fight. It was announced as one second into round number five. The record should be corrected to show the correct round.

Dan Rafael reporting it as one second into five. I will post the video of the ring announcer officially announcing the one second into five if I can find it.

Here are the official scorecards for the Burnett fight. If you look at the bottom of the card you can read 'Donaire TKO 5" on them.

We put it in as RTD 4, time 3:00, for reasons explained at least 1000 times in this forum... :TU:

Simply search this forum for threads including the word "RTD", you won't have to go back far to find more than enough... And once again, the official announcement of 1 sec. into round 5 does not matter...

I have to agree with everyone else that posted in that Spence thread you linked to. I find this stunning that you don't actually report the official result. :oo

Is it really that hard to understand why we put in RTD 7 when there was no action in round 8? People could believe that the fighters went at each other for 10 seconds in round 8 and that then, the referee called it off because Burnett was defenseless. Go to Central or South America, where it is common use to have a ceremonial 10-count in round 8 even when one's corner threw in the towel as soon as round 7 was over, and the ref accepts it. Because, if one's corner throws in towel, it's up to referee to decide if he accepts it or not. Referee is the only person who can stop it. I've seen refs kicking the towel out of the ring and let the fight continue. Just a sidenote...
I'm of course well aware that here, we talk about 1 second into round 8, but as I already mentioned, it simply does not matter.

i understand boxrecs reasoning. i think a lot of people though basically think the database should record results as they were given, instead of something else, even if that something else perhaps better reflects the nature/context of the stoppage

So from an official stand point when someone is pulled between rounds it counts as a stoppage in the round about to start? i assume betting follows that? would be nice to know so that i never get cocky about actuly winning a bet and have it swiftly stolen from me..
