Yes. He has stated he will be moving up to WW. I think he should dominate the LWW first though.

He's already a top level fighter. Through the tourney he'll get the championship. He'll be free to move up then for bigger fights.

He don't have to move up at WW to become the top level champion. I think he is a natural LWW.

I can’t see him beating my mate Josh Taylor, Josh beats him in every department.

Define Top Level Champion?

I mean I think he's the #1 guy at 140 if he wins this tournament. Whoever wins this tournament has that claim easy. Is being #1 in a division thats as open with as many low level proven guys as 140 is post-Crawford a "top level champion". Idk if I'd definitely say that, but being #1 in a division is impressive enough of an accomplishment in my book.

I'm assuming by "the top level champ" that you mean winning the WBSS Final at 140. I chose undecided because I think Prograis-Taylor is too close to call right now. Maybe after seeing how both do in their semifinal bouts I will know enough to make an educated prediction, but right now it's up in the air.

That's where I'm at too.
I can't pick between Reggie and Josh. I also think this Baranchyk is a dark horse, if there's a banana skin in this tournament- I think it's him.

Taylor is yet to get past Martin.

Do you really think Martin will give Taylor trouble? I'll actually be rooting for Martin but he has not fought anyone nearly as good as Taylor and I dont think he has much chance, especially on Josh's home turf.

If he wins the WBSS he will be a top level champion. But he's not yet in the top 10 p4p for me. But a good way to test himself if he's top level or not is by beating either Spence or Crawford or even Mikey Garcia.

Prograis should be able to get past Kiryl Relikh in their WBSS semifinal bout but he should have definite problems against Josh Taylor, who just stopped Ryan Martin in 7. I think Taylor should be able to handle Ivan Baranchyk in the other semifinal. RIght now I consider Prograis-Taylor too close to call, so I wont make a prediction on that one until I see how Josh and Reggie look in their semis,

Martin was game but his lack of top-notch opposition (at both the amateur and pro levels) was apparent against Taylor, who has been world-class in both the paid and unpaid ranks of the sport. Taylor against Prograis should be a compelling showdown and a pick 'em matchup if they meet in the WBSS Final as expected. :box:

Much safer posting this on CS compared to B&I
I also think Taylor will deal to Reggie. Not that Reggie dosent have a lot of potential and age on his side, I just don't think he will become the #1 SLW at this point in time.

You guys are sleeping on Ramirez. Dude looked the goods against Orozco.

I think Taylor and Ramirez are the two guys to beat in the division.

I am sad because Mikey Garcia will likely move up at 147 (and be destroyed by Spence).

It would be very hot at 140 - Prograis, Ramirez, Taylor and Mikey. :verysad:

For Prograis to get there he needs to win this tourney the way Ward won the SMW years ago. He will need to step it up to get that done. Reilikh is basic but a beast. Whoever comes out on top in Taylor v Baranchyk should be rated 50-50 with Prograis (if he survives the semis).

Baranchyk is absolutely solid fundamentally. Taylor best bring his hardhat and lunch pale. It is going to be a brutal day at work.

Light Welter is absolutely stacked with Ramirez and especially with the addition of Linares. It will be really disappointing if Mikey leap frogs this entire group to get beaten down by Spence.

I voted "undecided". I'm not overly impressed with Prograis' defense and he seems a little hot headed.

Baranchyk is a beast. The match up with Prograis would be very violent.
